I just assumes sarcasm :manny:

I feel like people don't want the underprivileged to be able to be able to get support from the government. These same people don't want the underprivileged to be able to support themselves even when working 60-80 hour work weeks. So what are these people supposed to do? Should everyone earning less than 50k a year be liquidated along with their offspring?

Food for thought

:

man shut the hell up. you've said absolutely nothing of substance as usual. just stop replying to me....with your dumbass.

The only thing you do is come into threads and make outrageous incendiary statements.

You have little grasp of any real world subjects. Probably any. You have no grasp of the world around you that's probably why you cling to the coattails of Conservative talking points. It's really quite humorous and I'm sure it's not lost to others here. It's also funny that you talk about business as if you knew anything about it. I've been in the business world my whole life. You will never know anything about that "life". You're all talk. Keep behaving like a cake.

Why don't you enlighten us morons on your business experience? Or is that too difficult to explain using gifs and smiles?

The problem is two-fold:

1. All of these costs will be passed on to consumers. Prices will rise to compensate for the increase in wages. The owner of Papa John's said as much. Check out that thread here: http://www.the-coli.com/locker-room/59027-papa-johns-ceo-threatening-lay-offs.html

2. The owners owners of these businesses will keep their pockets fat, making the least sacrifices. This is the motive behind passing the cost to the consumer.

You're only worth what someone is willing to pay you. That's why I always preferred commission based pay...more control over my income.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

That's the point of these strikes and worker protests. I don't get how some of you accept and actively participate in your own oppression.

That graph is cool to look at and all but what goes into calculating the index numbers on the Y-axis. I cant seem to understand it, since you seem knowledgeable about the graph, do you care to explain how the index numbers were calculated so that I can make sense of the graph?

Uh, it says what it looks like. Productivity has increased rapidly in the last 35 years while wages have remained flat. This is common knowledge that nobody of any ideology really disputes. If you want the methodology of how the numbers were calculated, ask the Economic Policy Institute or any of the other several think tanks that came to same conclusion. As to what we should do about it, if anything, you'll get a variety of opinions but it is what it is.

Im crapping on them for taking a job requiring little to no skills yet demanding premium wages. I know a few college grads that didn't come out of school making $15/hour. By right, these fast food jobs were desgined for young people, not old people raising families. And again, no one is forcing these people to work for the companies. They can always find work elsewhere. But the entitlement nature of this country encourages people to demand high wages even if they don't deserve them. Trust me, I used to live in Detroit, a town decimated by unions. I've seen this cylcle occur far too many times.

This has nothing to do with "young people" or "families." Absolutely nothing. It has to do with the price of certain necessary shyt like basic healthcare, education, and...y'know...FOOD outpacing inflation. People not being able to eat or buy medicine when they're sick is objectively BAD for the economy.
