I'm about 1 degree of separation from this gentleman. A lot of us Jamaican business people move in the same circle. In the original thread I mentioned that my accountant does business with him.
Me and my accountant have been talking about this all weekend. There's way more to the story than back taxes but out of respect for this gentleman I won't put it out there. It will come out eventually. Business people get busted for tax evasion all the time and recover easily. With his net worth and the resources that he has access to he could have taken care of it easily. Taxes aren't reason to kill yourself.

Yeah Haitians used to get it hard (pause). As I got older and learned more about Haiti and the Haitian people I developed a real love for them.

As for me, I'm Jamaican and have never gotten into any fights because of my background. I was teased for my accent for a little while when I first got here
I came here when I was 11 years old and lived in West Palm Beach where there were a lot of Jamaicans. Even at that young age I didn't give a fukk about assimilating into the larger group. All my friends in middle school were Jamaicans with a handful of Haitians here and there.
I did two years at Palm Beach Lakes High where all my friends were Jamaicans.

Left Palm Beach county to finish high school and moved to Queens where damn near everybody is Jamaican or have some connection to Jamaica, or of caribbean background.
In college my closest friends were Jamaicans.
Because I was always around my people and immersed in my culture I was able to avoid a lot of the bullshyt that school aged immigrants typically go through.

I feel you. It's just that, being Jamaican, I know how these nikkas get down. All things considered, I had a hell of a time and it was worth it just being there with my kids. You just can't let your guard down and get too comfortable.
I think that will be my last vacation there. Sooner or later the law of averages will catch up to me. Might as well bow out on a high note.

When I go back don't stay at resorts or anything like that. I do Airbnb and stay at places off the beaten path with some locals. I usually travel with my wife and two kids (5 and 3 year old). The experience is a lot deeper that way.
My close family in Jamaica though are scared of how I move when I'm down there because I'm all over some far off places with my kids.
I've been lucky to have nothing but wonderful experiences when I'm there but I'm going to have to fall back on how I move because the law of averages is bound to catch up.
As fukked as Jamaica is there is a level of authenticity and humanity that's missing from America.
It's sad that I'm going to have to bush Jamaica.

Jamaica is a beautiful place if it weren't for the fukking people. There's no place where I'd rather be but I'm tired of the anxiety when I'm going down there. I love Jamaica but can't fukking stand the people and this is coming from a Jamaican.

Not even Haitians would chose their food over Jamaican food. The only place where I see Haitian food in the same sentence as Jamaican food in on the coli.
I fukks with my Haitians heavy heavy and I'm a honorary Haitian...but naw.

My nephew got murdered in St. Elizabeth in February. It's almost June and he's not buried yet cause his family can't get into the country.

If only they would just leave us the fukk alone and let us return home without living in constant fear that place would start to turn around.
There is so much human capital, potential, and resources in the disapora. Instead they would rather keep us out and sell off the country to the whites and the Chiney.

2021

That's another thing that's not discussed and have light shed on it enough. There's a lot of contract killings that go on. Family disputes. Business disputes. Anything.
They killed a young dude the other day in May Pen for no other reason than he opened up a funeral home and his rival put change on his head.
You can't even be a returning resident and try to be enterprising. That's the quickest way to get extorted or murdered.
My accountant and I was going to start something down there back in 2016 and had to put the breaks on it for safety concerns. I love Jamaica but not enough to become a martyr or a hastag.
There is a lot of money, smarts, experience, and human capital in the Jamaican diasapora. I don't know any Jamaican living outside of Jamaica that wouldn't rather be back there, live life, and contribute meaningfully. The culture is just so fukking trash and destructive that decent people don't want anything to do with it.

I have to move like a secret agent when I visit there. I can't even stay there more than a week because the longer you're there the more risk you're exposing yourself to. Last year when I was there I there for 8 days and stayed at three different places in three different parishes smh. Can't even let your guard down. Head constantly on a swivel and can't trust nobody.

After I tie up some loose ends I'm completely done with that place.

A man has developed child sex dolls that he claims will stop paedophiles from abusing children – but experts are concerned it could have the opposite effect.

Shin Takagi, a self-confessed paedophile, has never acted on his impulses. However, he wanted to build something to help him keep his urges under control.

‘We should accept that there is no way to change someone’s fetishes,’ he told the Atlantic, explaining how he had founded Trottla – a company that builds life-like and anatomically correct child sex dolls.
