Chappelle was on Def Comedy Jam back in the day. Black people knew of Chappelle before the show. And whites weren't fukkin with Chappelle show until that that Rick James shyt. They only fukked with the truly silly shyt like Rick James and the Lil Jon shyt anyways. And most whites still didn't even get the racial social commentary type of stuff.

That's what I mean. Chappelle was around for a LONG time, and no one really noticed him until Killing Them Softly and then Chappelle Show shortly after. It's no coincidence when he incorporated black lifestyle in his comedy he got the cosign and then blew up into the mainstream.

:stopitslime:me and my friends (all black) were hyped as fukk to go see Half Baked in 98' cause Chappelle was in it been fukking with him since "Men in Tights" used to come on Cable and then the Comedy Specials real black comedy heads been fukking with Dave for at least 20/25 years

Anybody who didn't fukk with Dave until the Chappelle show was either young or way outta the fukking loop

I know for a fact Chappelle chills with black people because I live in the same neighborhood. Went to high school with one of his friends. I've even seen him at the local dives.
Maybe I'm biased though.

I mean I always viewed Chappelle as whitewashed or cac shyt until his show on comedy central which is a hood classic. So I agree with the white man's Frankenstein shyt. Had some young YouTube cat try to tell me Chappelle was popular in the hood when Blue Streak came out:comeon:didn't nobody know that nikka back then unless you was watching Half Baked and that was cac shyt. Didn't nobody know he was Reggie from Nutty Professor either until later.

I always find it funny that "black" people online hate Mike Epps and Katt Williams them is the only real nikka comedians from this century. Really tells you what type of "blacks" we deal with online.:mjpls:bourgeois nikkas

You gotta have a certain IQ level to really understand and appreciate chappelle's comedy. You telling me the the chappelle show never made faizon laugh? But it was like the best selling DVD in history??

Big worm is sounding like a complete hater right now.
See what I mean:mjpls:sounds awfully familiar

All the black/white shyt is stupid but it's the truth that Dave has resonated with a white audience from the jump. Faizon and others are saying it like it's a bad thing, makes him inauthentic or means he's competing with lesser talent, that's nonsense.

But no, Half Baked, Men In Tights, people are going to say those aren't' black' movies or hood classics, whatever. Neither Aries or Faizon can really put together a dope set, movie let alone a special for a network.

I always bust out laughing at Dave...never bust out laughing at Richard Pryor. When I watch his specials I'm just amazed at how effortless that shyt was for him. all comedians should aspire to reach the level of fearlessness when on stage. Martin Lawrence "You So Crazy" had me cryin a few times. Eddie Murphy....Delirious was funnier than Raw to me. By time I watched Raw I had heard a million shytty comedians recycle those jokes so it didnt hit as hard for me.

Love all of Chris Rock's specials and the only comedian to make me laugh as much as I did while watching those was Damon Wayons. Damon Wayans is underrated as fukk when it comes to stand up....I'll put "One Night Stand", "Still Standing" and "Last Stand" up against most specials.

Richard just didn't give a fukk and was born and raised that way from the era he came from lol Eddie Griffin is up there..Dice Clay..Thea Vidale.. DC Curry..Paul Mooney..Sam Kinison..Robin Harris..Rudy Ray Moore..

I literally went to a Dave Chappelle show about a year ago in Atl...

Everyone laughed
and no one booed. In fact, some people were crying laughing.

Faizon just sounds like a bitter ass nikka. Its his opinion but nikka walk around like it's facts. Dave isn't my favorite comedian but Dave is funny

Everything he said about Chapelle is how i feel about kevin hart

its how I feel about eddie murphy & martin Lawrence.:manny:

Same shyt Mike epps did to Kevin hart. Even though it might be a little truth to what he said, it just came from a place of frustration because his career is going better

I never heard of faizon doing standup tho.

why would he be frustrated at Chappelle's ranking as a standup comedian?

Thread 5 pages in....I'm not readin backwards but I'll just give my OP....I never thought Chapelle was funny til the Chapelle Show either (was somewhat late to that party til I finally had to see what the fuss was about)...:manny: but prior to his show...I always thought he was "cac funny" (dry humor):stopitslime:...which isn't "ngga funny". Started fukkin wit em after the show of course which is an All-time classic. Watched his comedy specials after and started gettin his sctick a lot better after. He's just himself. His stand-up isn't Paul Mooney/Eddie Murphy/Robin Harris type so I can see why cacs gravitate to him. I say all that to say this tho...I can get where Faizon is comin from...:ehh:
