Probably the best post in here about Edge in a nutshell. The Edge hate on here is weird, but he 100% would not have had as many titles as he had without the brand split. Orton wouldn’t have either.

He might never have won the title tbh. Even with the brand split, it took 3 years after he came back from his neck surgery of kind of floundering, especially as a heel. I mean, they were trying, giving him feuds with HBK, putting him in multi man title matches, but he wasn't really gaining any traction until the Matt/Lita thing blew up online and spread out to TV.

But you imagine a world where there wasn't a brand split, Austin/Rock/Hogan/Nash/HBK/HHH/Brock/Taker/Jericho were all floating up at the top of the cards, Edge wouldn't have cracked that group for YEARS if ever. The brand split + Austin/Rock/Nash/Brock/Hogan leaving, Jericho being regularly diminished for whatever reasons, Taker being mostly contained to his shytty universe by that point, HBK not wanting the title.....what's most impressive imo is that he got the title and didn't get put in the ground by HHH.

My favorite wrestler but him and randy have wayyyy too many reigns....of course having a gimmick like the ultimate opportunist works for short reigns :mjlol:

This is the the dude that walked in wwe champ at The EC ,loses beats up some jobber and leaves World Heavyweight champ the same night:lolbron:

He was a top heel for a while and held smackdown down for a long time

He and Jeff Hardy were rewarded for being loyal for all those years, which I don’t have a problem with.

Lumping Edge and Jeff together isn't right at all. Jeff was stupidly over with the live crowd and moving merch at Cena levels, he was overdue a run but it's understandable why they hesitated with him because of all the external issues he brought with him. Plus Jeff was gone for 3 years and worked for TNA those weren't golden handshake runs. Edge was never that over by himself and they stayed giving him heaters from Lita to Vickie and that goofy stable of his. Fans were :ld: towards Edge on his own more often than not, he got the loyalty reward not Jeff.

And the whole time they pretty much kept Cripple H away from him..
Yeah HHH and Edge being on separate brands was by design, no coincidence. Also Trips didn't want anyone else to have long hair on Raw at the time as he was doing his best Flair impersonation. True story.

He got some stat padding reigns because of a Money in the Bank contract where they thought Mr. Kennedy was going to be injured longer than he really was, RVD getting caught with weed so they had to take the belt off him, and silly stipulations like "if Edge uses the spear which is banned, he loses the title to Dolph Ziggler" then win the title back the same week in a rematch or "Undertaker is stripped of the title if he uses the Hell's Gate".

Edge had one title reign where he pretty much only won the title JUST to drop it to Jeff at the next PPV because Triple H wouldn't do it.
