Ya'll are some jerkoffs if you really can't see a problem with charging top dollar for that lame kindergarten advice. He wasn't doing charity work, he got paid 2k for 30 minutes and couldn't bother to offer anything beyond a 5 minute google search. Ya'll are crazy, I would be fukking pissed.

But he's not invested in the guy's company. Why would he give a shyt? Constructing a tailor-made business plan takes a great deal of time and energy. He would need to be compensated more than $2k to do such a thing.

Because ripping off customers isn't good business lol. Your reputation for doing good business is/should be important. In his case it won't hurt him, unless he fukks over a lot of people, but if his public image was in jeopardy he probably care a lot.

on one hand I feel you, but on the other hand, this shyt is so shocking to me

this is a dude who is literally on the same level as a Oprah Winfrey

or as a Marc Cuban or a Russell Simmons etc

I mean, this dude is that prominent

I still can't believe it

I mean, imagine if you found out that Mark Cuban was charging a $1,000 for a face to face meeting...

many people would immediately take it and expect to hear sincere, great business advice...

Sorry for your loss, but how do you think they got that rich?
By being an unscrupulous a$$hole and suckering suckas like you...

I wouldn't call DJ an a$$hole for this. He did nothing wrong. These idiots expect a stranger (who's not invested in their business) to help them out. The world doesn't work like that. Everyone's looking out for themselves.

Your synopsis can be said about college too except your 2,000 would've been 60,000-100,00 :scust:

What was his slick comment tho :feedme:

he made a negative assumption about me

we was talking about crowdfunding and he talked about the mistake that some crowdfunders make, which is expecting

that the donations will start pouring in without engaging in a continous active campaign

and here's the kicker....and then he finished his statement by saying :

"which is something that you probably did"

.................ok

to some, that might sound innocent, but like I said before, if you are familiar with the first few seasons of Shark Tank

then you know he has a tendency to demean people

Looking up to a guy like this just because he is rich is your first mistake.

Secondly, outside of offering you a job, what do you expect him to tell you that is worth $2,000?

I look at guys like this with the side-eye. He has "hustler" written all over him.

Isn't crowdfunding a slick term for finding as many suckers as possible to pay for what you want?

I've seen the ad promoting his face to face. It definitely gives the impression of uncommon advice geared specifically to your business.

If this is truly all he offered you, I don't blame you for feeling played.

Recap and be sure this was all he offered. Sometimes we get so caught up on one thing that we forget to focus on other points.

trust me, it was

hell, another generic piece of advice that he gave me was this

he told me I should go on Facebook and do targeted advertising

and he then said once I found my target market I should do the following :

(now brace yourself cause this is deep)

he said that I should KEEP ADVERTISING TO THAT PARTICULAR GROUP

wow, that's brilliant!

I always thought that once I found my target market, I should automatically go the opposite way

and start advertising to other groups, wow!

stfu, that's what consulting means. That's the whole business.

You don't have to be "Invested in their company" or whatever shyt you tell yourself. You pay people for insight and your expertise You act like there aren't people out there who wouldn't have given him better advice for way less than 2k. Stop dikk riding :mjlol:

Sounds like the OP learned a valuable business lesson.

Not sure why you're upset though. You asked a general question so you got a general answer. Sounds like you wasted his time and not the other way around.

You had a face to face with damon and blew it. You have to sell yourself to him and get him interested.. he doesnt need you or your money and He was probably annoyed cause you were unprepared and asking him stuff you should already know or thats easily researchable. Thats why he told you to go read some books.

Next time come with a plan and specifics you need addressed and how he can help you and how it will benefit him.

Did you come to him with a solid business plan? Did you present your startup? Do you have actual hands on markups?

Seems like either he was an a$$hole or you didn't present in a way to make him interested.

yeah, before the meeting they make you fill out a detailed questionaire

and he was supposed to have read that before the meeting

which I dont think he did by the way

what do you think he spent the $2000 on OP?

he did claim to lose almost a mill ticket on the first season of shark tank and we all know he has been a "buy any means" type of guy. Queens guys are grimey and have been about that freebands life forever.
