You need to name names with this type of thing so others dont repeat the mistake.

maybe in the near future, I might do that

at this point, I'm still trying to get my money back

I'm trying to get some people that I know to contact his team on my behalf for a goodwill refund

like, my mothers pastor for example, or I have a friend who's dad is a Judge

you know, just trying out some shyt that will hopefully work

In the club industry you get hustled by celebrities all the damn time. Most of the time they get flown in first class and put up in 5 star hotels. All they have to do is show up at a decent time to spend an hour or two in the club so people pay more to get in and people inside buy more and make the night boom. You'd be surprised how many show up 5 minutes before last call so no money is made at the bar or door. I've seen so many promoters fukk around and end up operating at a loss dealing with celebrity appearances. It's such a ridiculous gamble and if they no show it damages your reputation even more. That's why 9 times out of 10 when you hear a celebrity got robbed at a club/show it was the promoter taking his money back.

on one hand I feel you, but on the other hand, this shyt is so shocking to me

this is a dude who is literally on the same level as a Oprah Winfrey

or as a Marc Cuban or a Russell Simmons etc

I mean, this dude is that prominent

I still can't believe it

I mean, imagine if you found out that Mark Cuban was charging a $1,000 for a face to face meeting...

many people would immediately take it and expect to hear sincere, great business advice...
I mean if they're on that level $1,000 is actually kind of chump change. How much do you think billionaires should value their time? With that said, that doesn't necessarily mean the advice they'll give you is worth that you went to a generic consultant and got generic advice. The better thing would have been to pick one of those things say for example facebook ads and then go to an industry expert in that field.

Update - It was Daimond John

As you can see by the screenshot, it's a receipt in my email box from a company called Game Changer$.

I think its his company, and he does consulting for people.

Meet Branding Consultant Daymond John for Marketing Advice | Game Changer Meetings

I decided to go ahead and post this as a learning experience for you guys, especially for all my struggling entrepreneurs.

If you've been grinding with your startup like I have for many years, allot of times when something positive and exciting comes along,

we immediately jump at the opportunity without thinking it through.

Everything that glitters aint gold. Besides the shyt that I already mentioned, the meeting itself was almost disrespectful believe it or not.

For all my people who been watching Shark Tank since day one, yall know that Daymond can be an a$$hole.

He fell back on that as the show became more popular, but watch the first couple of seasons.

I was aware of his assholish nature, but decided to give it a shot anyways cause I didn't actually think he would be an a$$hole towards me during the interview.

But he did lol. He didn't even looked like he wanted to be there lol. For example, he was looking out the window while I was talking LOLLLLLL

He even sneak dissed me during the interview too LOL He said something real slick to me too. I couldn't actually believe he said that.

And also, for all my goodhearted people out there. Remember this : allot of times we make the mistake of assuming that other people have the same heart as we do.

I'm a dude that likes to help people, and I was hoping that during the meeting that he would take a liking to me and decide to help me out.

I'm a Afrikan immigrant living paycheck to paycheck at a minimum wage job and I have been grinding with my startup for many years.

I need money and expertise to really scale this company and he's worth 300 million dolllars and didn't even decide to help me out.

He didn't necessarily needed to invest in my company but he could've ATLEAST helped a young brother out.

Like for example, I dont have the ability to mass produce my product, he could've atleast offer to hook me up with one of his factories connections, which he has many of.

How can you be a Black man worth hundreds of millions of dollars and sit face to face with a struggling young brother and dont even help him out?

TO DAYMOND'S DEFENSE, I also wanted to add this.

Believe it or not, I actually believe there's a possibility that he was actually sincere with the advice he was giving me

Here's the thing.

There's a false perception out there that the reason why these Millionaire and Billionaire Entrepreneurs are in the position they in is because they are somehow smarter in business then everyone else.

That is not necessarily true. They where merely luckier then everybody else.

They benefited from certain circumstances in history, and they were at the right place at the right time, and they were just smart enough to capitalize on it.

For example, here's the way you got to look at things.

Mark Zuckerberg came up with the idea of facebook when he went to a particular prep school that had a student directory that was somewhat similar to what we know as Facebook today.

So what if Mark Zuckerberg never went to that particular school? Chances are, we would've never had a facebook.

Or even using Dayme as an example. All the forces in the universe also collided in his favor with Fubu.

He was lucky in the fact that he started his company in Queens at a time when Queens rappers where becoming very popular in hip hop.

He used to have Queens rappers wear his shirt.

He was a roadie for popular rappers and even had LL COOL J LIVING in his neighborhood! See how success is really circumstantial??

So he just walked up to LL and LL decided to give him an opportunity and the rest is history.

I believe there's a book called Outliers that speaks on this.

So allot of times when we watch interviews or seminars with successfull people, we look towards them to give us some magical beans, or some great advice that we can implement.

But like 99% of the time, we can't, because its not necessarily implementable in our OWN lives, our own LIFE TRAJECTORY.

You cant put somebody else's number in your own equation.

So there's a good chance that the reason why he gave me generic advice is because THAT'S ALL HE COULD GIVE.

BUT ON THE FLIPSIDE, I do look at the meeting as a rip off because if you KNOW that you are going to be giving out generic advice, dont charge a struggling entrepreneur thousands of dollars for it.

Sounds like you wanted a magic shortcut.
Everything he said is correct.

If I sit down face to face with Shaq and ask him how win at basketbll he is gonna tell me back them down and dunk. Score 28 points a game. shyt like that.

He is 100% correct, but the problem is I'm 5'9 maybe 5'10 ay best. So I can't execute his advice.
But the advice is still valid and accurate.

Not being able to crowdfund or do customer outreach is a personal problem not a flaw in the advice. He didn't give you bs advice in my opinion.
Reading a crowdfunding book might put you down a road of reading other business books. You might find the one you need cause of that.

So try and focus, write down what he said verbatim so you don't forget any of it and really look in depth at what he said and think about it. That is a highly experienced business owner. Just being able to tell others he has consulted for your business adds value to it through something known as edification. It boosts your whole brand. You should list that on your business website (if you have one). Don't underestimate him. You just gotta understand what it is you paid for... so write it down and seriouosly study it. Stop ridiculing it cause its already paid for. Utilize it.

I saw this happen to Tyga.

He got booked at this one club but came to my club because his DJ was there. The other promoters legit came into the club and snatched his backpack off him and took their money back and the money he made from his show.

Your synopsis can be said about college too except your 2,000 would've been 60,000-100,00 :scust:

It's unfortunate this happened.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Yeah they were at the right place at the right time but they had to realize that to take advantage of it. Imagine all the people who have been at the right place at the right time and didn't take advantage. Why not place yourself at the right place and create your own "luck"?
