German clubs like Bayern are majority owned by the club and their fans so thats not happening. the only one that could realistically join is RB Leipzig because their ownership is different

football/ soccer died a little bit last night. It goes completely against the fundamentals of how soccer is structured with relegation and reward for success. It should never be a structure of a group of rich clubs who have no risk of failure and falling from the big league just because they're the richest. The American sports system works in the US but it doesn't fit with European soccer.
I hope UEFA and national leagues go to the extreme and start threatening clubs from being removed from the national leagues for this shyt
There is clearly more to this than meets the eye. These big clubs are fed up with PSG/ Qatar's influence in UEFA, they're fed up with how much money is made that doesn't go to them and just lines the pockets of UEFA. And perhaps the most important factor that has turned this threat for the past few years into reality is COVID. A lot of these Super League clubs are on the brink of collapse due to lack of revenue and when JP Morgan came along with billions of instant cash I imagine was hard to say no.
Also I think it helps stadiums are empty right now. 99.99% of fans in the UK are furious with this idea. Easier to push this through when there is no fans to protest at games

Just one example (and I'm a Man Utd fan mind you): Leicester City have outperformed us at large in the Premier League since 2016, and since we are some sort of legacy team with a huge fanbase and revenue we are supposed to be rewarded by entering this ESL? Based on what? This is a huge middle finger to competition and what makes the domestic leagues exciting. Most importantly, it is the biggest middle finger to fans.

even if they stay in domestic leagues on that wed night they will field their stacked team and then on saturday for domestic leagues you'll see a weakened team
