I wish American sports leagues had relegation :ohlawd:

Too many of these ownership groups making mad profits while putting a trash product out for decades

It's the literal fix to tanking in the NBA AND it'd make the MLS a hell of a lot interesting if they combined with Liga MX, but they'll never do it here. Too many rich dudes want the guaranteed return. The history of the club infrastructure is something that them rich folks will never be able to take away and they learned what'll happen if they try......It's also pretty much proof that the NFL owner is the envy of every sports owner on the planet. They spit on fans. They spit on players. They spit on cities. They still print money.

Yes.

Youd need to get rid of the draft too.

Which should've been done.

You want a rookie? How much is it worth?

fukk the salary cap as well.

I thought these rich cacs were capitalists why they scared of the free market?

The fix to tanking is getting rid of the draft, but good luck getting fans to not protest over that

If they got rid of the draft and the salary cap 90% of sports fans would applaud it.

The 10% who are fans of draft dependent teams like OKC, Utah, Milwaukee... fukk em.

You not entitled to four years of a talented athletes life and work just because you live in a trash market where no free agents would go by choice.

I agree with a lot of what you saying. I been felt the draft is a hype circus these days. Just get rid of the salary and wage cap and let franchises just buy out contracts and sign whoever they want. At the end of the day each team can only have 5 players on the court at a time and there's only one ball. Eventually the talent will be distributed equally. I actually think through this it'll be less potential wasted

My naive opinion.

American sports leagues are basically cartels

Ironically baseball, exempt from labor laws, is the best by far

But all of them to some extent have agreed that it's more important that everyone eats and that true competition would run counter to that

It's absolutely a waste that players like Giannis or Donovan Mitchell have to play for these bum ass franchises

I don't know. I have a feeling this is gonna greatly backfire. They've overplayed their hand. Especially with Liverpool and Manchester United allegedly frontrunning this with their American owners, I don't think they expected this bad a reaction

Bro, political figures are legit getting involved in this. Y'all don't understand what football means to Europeans as a culture. They especially ain't gonna let Americans come and change their game like this.

Pathetic.:mjlol:.

Making new laws because teams want to maximize profits.:russ:.

You Europeans are foolish.:mjlol:.

I think the 90% is generous. Any time I see it brought up, it’s getting shut down out of paranoia that all the top prospects will be trying to team up in big markets :manny:

Which is why a lot of teams don't even try

They didn't have to pay for the stadium so they don't care if fans come

And fans will still come when they play the good teams, to see the other sides players

They'll get money off TV contracts that are driven by the actually good teams including the couple prime time games they get every year even though they are trash
Exactly. It's amazing how conditioned Americans are on their current system and set up that they are not even aware that the rest of the world would never settle for such a set up.

The reason those teams are the "big markets" is because between them they have 90% of the fans though

NYC, LA, San Fran, Dallas, Miami, Boston, Philly, DC

All them teams have enough money that without a draft and salary cap the other team couldn't consolidate all the talent. Sure, at any given time one team would have the best players like today.

But the competition would mean they couldn't afford to have all stars off the bench because one of the other teams would be willing to pay more to have that player start and star.

San Antonio has shown that a well managed well coached team committed to competing can do so. But no question it'd be rough for small market teams.

On the other hand you'd have cities that don't have teams right now with a chance to get a promotion and take the ranking teams spot.

The counter argument to that is would the Spurs have ever gotten David Robinson or Tim Duncan without the draft?

I agree with you but I can’t see it ever happening
