History says that he's going to take the extension and not turn it down as no other player has before. He'd literally be taking the one year gamble and hoping that he could stay healthy in order to get the bag after the season is over. He could also hit the potential supermax as well depending on how he performs, so we're talking about $200 million dollars. You aren't turning down the money that early into his career especially with all of the injuries that have been happening over the past couple of years.

The smarter play would be to take the extension and then force your way out, so you have the guaranteed money just in case.
Even if Zion got hurt he’d still get a bag. Case in point Kawhi this off-season

The Clippers had no other choice but to give Kawhi the bag with the assets they gave up to get PG and the fact that they couldn't replace Kawhi if he left.

Even then, Kawhi wasn't dumb enough to do the 1+1 deal and get more bread after the season was over and took the guaranteed money. Same as what happen with AD and what Dipo should have done.

You’re correct there but let’s be real every team in the nba would offer Zion $150 million given the cap space and take a gamble regardless

Zion would be giving up money as only the Pelicans could offer him 5 years, while other teams could do 4.

Like I said in an earlier comment, take the bread and figure out the rest later like everyone else is doing. It's foolish turning down guaranteed money out here and taking that risk when you don't have to. If a team wants you, then they'll give up the assets to get you even with your contract. Westbrook and CP3 getting moved should show people that.

They should've just colluded to get the Knicks the #1 pick if that's the case.
Why does Zion have to take the extension? He already makes over a 100 million from Nike. Has tons of endorsements. He's a player who could ax the extension and leave as an early free agent if he wants to.
He doesn't have to, the Coli just doesnt like player movement and wants everyone to be Hakeem and Dirk for 1-2 late rings.
He doesn't. He doesn't wanna lose the Bird rights that can give him more years and more money tacked onto his deal though. That's why players in general doesn't even like going to free agency unless the team they want already has the cap space to bring them in.

The key now is to re-up for everything your own team can give you and then pull hoe tactics to get to your next destination. Even the opt outs don't scare teams as much as they used to. Look at Kawhi. He opted out only for him to have his ACL torn and the market dry up completely. If he could do it again, he'd just opt in.
Kawhi opted out after tearing his ACL though, which was dumb.

Leon Rose's UK and CAA connections are entirely why he got the job.

And this doesn't excuse the Pelicans from fumbling not one, but now TWO generational talents they got to draft entirely by "random" lottery :hubie:

They had their chance.

We didn't fumble Anthony Davis, he quit and signed to Lebr...ahem, an agency Lebron has nothing to do with and signed with his team.

You fumbled with Anthony Davis...

What exactly did the Pelicans not do?

The year before he quit we won 48 games, swept the Blazers without the star we traded for next to him, who's body quit on him.

Anthony can't carry a team for shyt, so, he quit Before Christmas.

Same issue they had until at least this season they didn’t put a team around him he wouldn’t have to carry. They actually have better fitting pieces around Zion than they ever had around AD.

Y'all had two winning seasons in 7 years with a generational talent. :mjlol:

What did the Pelicans not do?

Anything. Y'all didn't do anything.

And the moves being made around Zion right now :dahell:

Don't be mad at players for the failures of terrible ownership and leadership.

Remember when y'all had the ten pick the same draft y'all had the #1 pick and used it on Austin Rivers?

Y'all fumbled AD the very night the NBA put him in your hands.
