Shaq is better than Duncan though

False. Just because Shaq was more popular does not make him better. You can make a legit argument for all his gifts of being “The most dominant ever” Shaq underachieved during his career and left plenty of points (poor free throws) championships (not taking care of himself as best he should) imagine if he was truly dedicated to his craft like Kobe in regards to his body.

Duncan was never close to the most athletic but squeezed every drop out of his talent. Jordan is the GOAT then Duncan is the second greatest player of all times but y’all don’t hear me tho :yeshrug:

Winning 3 in a row is next-level elite.

Yes Duncan has 1 more ring than Shaq, but he didn't dominate the league at the level Shaq did during the 3peat.

Shaq calling Duncan's 1999 ring is disrespectful. Especially when Shaq got swept. He even asked to guard Duncan in Game 4 and couldn't stop him!

Spurs in 1999 had low-key one of the most dominant runs. Finished the regular season 31-5 and them stomped through the playoffs 15-2, none of the series were even close.

Those officiating debacles in WCF 2000 Game 7 and WCF 2002 Game 6 are much bigger asterisks than 1999. :mjlol:

I can buy the logic in this, the only thing is once you start getting to that upper echelon, you gotta really nitpick, and we do it with everyone...

Duncan at his best was a force but not quite as dominant as several guys. He got washed and underperformed a few times in the playoffs himself, as a favorite, too. And we can't discount that while he didn't really have a Pippen-level sidekick (unless you count Rob as that his first few years), the overall roster and coaching around him was consistently elite. Other guys did more with less...

He ain't the second greatest ever (and Mike ain't #1 lol), but Duncan at #2, aint the craziest thing I've ever heard!

Not a huge shaq fan
and his babbling like a bytch shyt is useless
spurs won and that's life

but shaq would ultimately destroy tim duncan
In his 2nd year Duncan swept prime Shaq. Shaq even asked to guard him and got embarrassed.

In 2003 Duncan beat prime Shaq again straight up even though Shaq had prime Kobe next to him and Duncan just had 20yo Tony Parker.

Duncan's 1999-2005 was one of the most dominant runs by a big. 2 MVPs, 2 MVP runner-ups, 3 Finals MVPs....and all right in the middle of Shaq's prime. If he hadn't gotten hurt in 2000 and had a shyt supporting cast 2001-20002 it might have been even better.

TD didn’t have the luxury of having someone like Kobe to perform at the most vulnerable moments. Y’all get so stuck on giving Shaq all the credit y’all ignore the two most vulnerable moments in the 2000 title run: Portland Game 7 kobe had the better game and Game 4 Finals Kobe prevented the series from being tied up. 2001 west playoff run Kobe did a lot of heavy lifting.

Look at the early 00s Spurs, 2nd highest scorer dropping 12-15ppg and shyt. TD himself was only a low to mid 20s type scorer, imagine if he had someone like Kobe spazzing out. Tim would have won 6+ titles if he had Kob.

Went from being jealous of The Admiral during his playing career to being jealous of The Big Fundamental in his retirement.

NBATV had that Blazers-Spurs Game 2 from 1999 the other day. Portland up the whole damn game only to choke it at the end. @Skooby @Serious

Those Knicks in the Finals were so overmatched. Its amazing Allen Houston going off got them a game and Sprewell almost got them Game 5.

Only knock on Duncan i have is he doesnt have a b2b title run...most of the all time greats have at least 1...i think that establishes true dominance.
