that night in new orleans was destiny ray might have been the most unbeatable fighter ever on that night in all honesty. ray never used his legs like that before that fight the way he was moving and the fact that ray had one punch stopping power in both hands at that weight its what i imagine ray robinson must have looked like when he was fighting at welterweight. unstoppable. no fighter beats that version of ray that night at the superdome

Physically yes, but mentally? No. Ray got into his head a was embarrassing him and it was getting progressively worse.
So taking brutal ko's and being in 15 round wars is less mentally taxing than someone running and clowning you.....

Like I said his corner going over his excuse and then saying we'll talk for you was everything that needed to said about the fix

This is boxing it happens, and knowing Arum was his promoter a known fight fixer solidifies that for me. Not to mention his 10 million stories over the years.......

Huge Huge ring, and Ray was far from unstoppable

After this doc he goes down a few notches in my book, a Mike Tyson, a Floyd Mayweather, a Muhhamed Ali, a Ray Robinson wouldnt let a opponenet intimidate them and shake them to the core like that, he felt he had to catch Duran off guard to simply beat him, then wait years for the rematch, thats not the mentality that some of the greats I mentioned displayed. Even at the end of the doc he conceded that Duran was the better fighter after beating him twice. One has to question SRL mentality and heart

Thuis was a man who tried his hardest to duck matches, until forced to put up or shut up, this was a man that got blatant robberies..................There is a alot of smoke and mirrors and questions regarding his legacy looking at it through a microscope trying to find something. I salute Ray for acknowledging he himself have those same questions.....

lol easier said than done. Duran wouldn't allow Leonard to do that in his first fight. He was chasing him down and applying pressure.

It was obvious the hunger wasn't there. And even then, the 2nd fight was still very close.

This shyt was deeper than boxing, b.
the brawl in montreal ray was flat footed and the 2nd fight wasnt close at all ray was in there looking like he invented boxing

He looked good but he wasnt moving his hands like Sugar does, except for winding up his fist, and landing a few pot shots here and there

And to those that actually watched the second fight and not seen documentaries it wasnt a one sided ass whipping like SRL and his supporters wanted you to believe, it was a close fight that Duran was still very much in.....:manny:

And Viruet is his match v Duran he ran and clowned way more than SRL, but no quitting there Duran kept storming for the full fight..............................:patrice:

As far as Duran excuse, A Bob Arum fighter said he had diarrhea and cramps, doesnt that sound awfully like Clottley who was also payed well more than he was worth plus a very public bonuses even though he aint do shyt, and disappeared later, follow the trail, all signs point to Arum fukkery.........

Yeah SRL/Duran was in no way some epic boxing clinic. Leonard was winning by prolly 2 or 3 rds but that was it. It's one of those boxing performances that got overrated due to the situations surrounding the fight similar to Bryd/Vitali. nikkas make it like Vitali was kicking dude's ass all over the ring, but Bryd won about 3 rounds and was making that nikka miss mad punches all while countering and even putting him against the ropes. Viatli was winning, but he wasn't dominating or felt comfortable enough to coast against a smaller guy that was coming on and that he couldn't hurt. Those last couple of rounds would have been hell for him.

With Duran I felt it was a combination of things. Dude wasn't in his best shape and already did the so called impossible by beating Ray the 1st time. As soon as he saw dude come with a different game plan he knew what was up. He still gave it a good go, but Ray found his groove around the 6th round and was only going to pick it up from there. Duran knew that and prolly didn't want it to get that far of a schooling. SRL had his best moments late in the last fight and was basically going to improve off of that in the rematch.

Duran says he has no regrets, but if he could go back and do it again, he wouldn't quit. He prolly won't tell the real truth until he's on his death bed. His eyes looked sorry and defeated as fukk in the ring with SRL at the end of the show. That shyt said it all right there.

Great show nonetheless and I'll always respect Duran, but he did bytch out. He thought it would take away from SRL's performance and it did to an extent, but it backfired and made him look worse history wise.

The fact that Leonard went on to fight and KO Hearns kinda shut that down anyway (which then was seen as a much more dangerous fight).

Of course, but "No Mas" is more infamous an incident that gets talked about a lot more. Duran winning a middleweight title wasn't even enough to erase that one fight. Duran could have moved up an fought Holmes to a draw and nikkas still wouldn't have let him live down the quit job.
