I hope people who are spewing that DURAN QUIT RAH RAH RAH shyt are watching this.

It's deeper than that.
I would have quit too, smart business move:manny:

You taking a ass whipping and dude is clowning, had that continued for the rounds as a UD, the world would have completely questioned Duran, and looked at him as a Baldomir ass nikka, and questioned his career, more would have called him a gate keeping ass nikka, although he had a pretty solid career(slightly overrated) pre SRL

By quitting Duran kept some of his love and luster, you cant be mad at that, although that shyt wouldn't fly in this day and age......

All that for a non-answer :comeon:

Honestly, I think Sugar Ray just wanted to look Duran in his eyes while he heard his explanation to be sure whether or not he was lying......and I'm with Leonard here that he quit cause he had nothing. He was gonna get embarrassed for every remaining round and he knew it.

That happens during a work out at times you just don't have it or you haven't recovered enough from your last work out, but this was such a large stage and being the fighter Duran was, such a bad move. He deserves the ridicule, but it doesn't define his career nor any fantasy bouts.

That non answer was so long that they put Ray's voice-over it, while the credits are rolling he admits "I fukked with you because I knew I could". Good stuff, 30/30 can branch out and do an entire season on Boxing alone.

The first fight is all dat really matters to me really
Snl was admittely shook and lost fair and square

The fact that srl openly admits that he wanted da fight cause he knew duran was at a disadvantage should kill his desperation for his "i made him quit" closure
Homie lost 10 pounds in one day for gods sake

Them duran wanted a rematch 3 months later just like he gave to srl and he ducked for 10 years

I was wondering why the first 2 fights were in 1980 and the 3rd fight was in 1989

After letting this marinate before I fully vented, I'm now 100% sure Duran took the biggest fukking dive in boxing's history and SRL knows this, it is why it bothers him so much to this day. SRL recollecting thinking Duran who was only getting touched sparingly mysteriously quitting, then him recollecting and thinking all of the BS decisions he always received in his career, the phantom 10 8 rounds like in Hearns 2 and such, SRL may truly question his whole career, the Duran mystery was simply the epicenter of the fukkery that went on his whole career. It's sad when you think of it from SRL perspective, not only did Duran terrify him and shake him to very core, the Duran no mas fiasco makes him question shyt in his latter career, and as a fighter nothing irks them more then question marks being surrounded by their victories that fought in the ring and felt they have earned. As a man he probably question if Bob Arum and Don King was stringing him along throughout his career........

As far as Duran goes he defintely dove, his corner prepping him on his excuse and them saying shut up and we'll talk for you was all that needed to be said, like it was stated in the doc Duran took far far worse ass whippings, SRL was barely landing. Had it not been no dive Im sure Duran would have stormed back later on ala SRL fight 1 with how much of a hold he had on SRL psyche, but his purse was 10 million which was like 30 0r 40 mil in those days he understood what BOB fight fixing fukking Arum wanted him to do. Although I waver on if him quitting was a big deal, I must admit although laughing I was disgusted at times about Durans smugness over the years regarding the fight, sending mixed signals, and saying stuff like Leonard knew why I quit with the :smugfavre:

Great Doc.................But can we get some more fukking boxing on 30 for 30:beli:

He dived breh........

Although a boxing lesson, those few potshots didnt warrant him quitting with half a fight to go

Why Arum, who hates King, let his fighter take a dive? Im not understanding the rationale

They didnt hate each other they were more like butt buddies stringing the public along to build a facade and false ass rivalry, how many big fights have King and Arum made hand in hand. Now Arum hates Oscar.....

But to answer your question Duran dives he gets a rematch, if it's too much heat for the rematch not to happen, Duran already received his retirement package......
