After letting this marinate before I fully vented, I'm now 100% sure Duran took the biggest fukking dive in boxing's history and SRL knows this, it is why it bothers him so much to this day. SRL recollecting thinking Duran who was only getting touched sparingly mysteriously quitting, then him recollecting and thinking all of the BS decisions he always received in his career, the phantom 10 8 rounds like in Hearns 2 and such, SRL may truly question his whole career, the Duran mystery was simply the epicenter of the fukkery that went on his whole career. It's sad when you think of it from SRL perspective, not only did Duran terrify him and shake him to very core, the Duran no mas fiasco makes him question shyt in his latter career, and as a fighter nothing irks them more then question marks being surrounded by their victories that fought in the ring and felt they have earned. As a man he probably question if Bob Arum and Don King was stringing him along throughout his career........
As far as Duran goes he defintely dove, his corner prepping him on his excuse and them saying shut up and we'll talk for you was all that needed to be said, like it was stated in the doc Duran took far far worse ass whippings, SRL was barely landing. Had it not been no dive Im sure Duran would have stormed back later on ala SRL fight 1 with how much of a hold he had on SRL psyche, but his purse was 10 million which was like 30 0r 40 mil in those days he understood what BOB fight fixing fukking Arum wanted him to do. Although I waver on if him quitting was a big deal, I must admit although laughing I was disgusted at times about Durans smugness over the years regarding the fight, sending mixed signals, and saying stuff like Leonard knew why I quit with the
Great Doc.................But can we get some more fukking boxing on 30 for 30
