Kenny already addressed this. He said their sparring had nothing to do with how they approached this fight. They sparred in 2011. That was way too long ago for it to really be useful. Sparring is just training man.

You crazy as hell if you think having previously sparred and training Spence in the olympics didn't play into this.

Goossen about to ruin another card :snoop:

I'm about to sound like a prude but the whole FOX ppv broadcast and presentation doesn't FEEL like a PPV. There was just nothing special. Felt like I was watching just any other fight card on a random weekend night. I do believe, like you said, it's Goosen and Lennox fault. They aren't built for PPV bouts. That's why i'm mad Showtime backing out of boxing slowly because Paulie and Mauro Ranallo makes it FEEL like a big time fight.

spence is a very good fighter, but hes not as far ahead of da pack as i orginally thought.
im curious to see how he does against a thurman.

You sound very silly here. 8 years is a long time in the sports world. Forget boxing because most people on here have never boxed anyway. Let’s take any sport, whether it’s basketball or football. Are you telling me someone is going to hoop exactly the same way they did 8 years ago? At the pro level at that?

Do you know how many stories are out there when someone sparred a guy years prior and couldn’t touch them, and then end up beating them years later? Fernando Vargas is a perfect example. He said 3 years prior to his fight with Campos, he couldn’t touch him. He got his ass kicked. They end up fighting and we know how that turned out. That’s in 3 years. We are talking about 8 years since Spence and Porter sparred.

Yeah man, too much of a Friday night Fights vibe. I'm not even that mad at Lennox, he just has that soft voice all the time which doesn't seem right for fights. Even Roy would give you that "He hurt him Max! HE'S hurt BAD!!" and gave it some urgency. Nothing about the production feels like its worth the 75$. Goossen is just gonna root for the lighter skinned fighter every time.

also, when I first saw Porter as a pro, he was at 154 iirc and he didnt fight like this at all. he has boxing skills. I think his team thought he would have a better chance at 147 where he still has good speed but can bully smaller guys. he didnt have the punching power to be as successful at 154 as he has been at 147. that aggressive style gave Spence a good go.

yep but my main thing is you have posters here looking for a reason as to why the fight was close and are coming up with anything to justify why.

“No one can do what porter did because they sparred.”

It’s very silly

now that Errol is fighting top tier competition he will have close fights and he will stop getting KO’s. That’s just how the game is.

Say what swift showed far far better work vs porter....

Being unbiased as I can spence lost 7 clear clean bullying rounds ..Its time too face the killers with that fight changing pop...someone who could make the sweat fly off him unlike porter, yet when punched in the mouth vs sp he puts his head down and close his eyes, even he admitted being hurt here....Thurman, Spence, and manny drops him if he doesn't improve, his main skillset is size, and vs porter he showed he gets flustered when he can't impose his will on fighters, beat in and out the trench, looking like a bobblehead eating repeated rights not blocking sitting there like:dahell:

:camby:

Spence actually fukked Porter up, Danny ain't do shyt

pretty much. I think Spence could have boxed more and made it an easier fight for himself but he was so hellbent on knocking out a guy that hasnt been close to being stopped and it nearly cost him his 0. styles make fights and this was the perfect example. Spence probably thought Porter wouldve been so badly faded/tired in the late rounds that he could take him out and Porter was in hellacious condition.
