They being melodramatic in the tweet. I think there's a lot of trash in Hiphop but to say no message or it's de-evolving now more so than other time is bullshyt.
At what specific period did hip hop devolve more than now?

What would you say the message is in mainstream hip hop?

When Laffy Taffy came out, when Solder boy came out, when Nas wrote Hiphop is dead, when Bigge and Pac died, when Gangsta rap went mainstream, When Swizz beats blew and nikkas played melodies with two fingers instead of sampling, when Afrocentric hiphop got shytted on by Gangsta rap so nikkas was corny for embracing Africa and not rocking LA Raider fitted hats, when old school rappers was getting fukked out they money cuz they did read contracts forcing the newer artist to be victimized by the same people they were victimized or even worse victimizing the newer artist they damn selves.

The message in mainstream hiphop now is do drugs, fukk bytches and party

the message in mainstream hiphop in my day was sell drugs, fukk bytches and party. Same self destructive message, be a nuisance to your community

BTW what the fukk are they doing to change the dynamics anyway? Try to sell us a 30 year old album again. "If ya'll wanna know what that real Hiphop is here's an ITUNES link to "Let the Rhythm Hit Em""

Are there people who think hip hop hasn't devolved? :dwillhuh:

whats down is up and whats up is down

don't try to make sense of this sh1t anymore

The hottest rapper out mumbles through autotune and cats treat it like it's the best sh1t their ears have ever heard

Disagree on every last one of your points.
Rappers nowadays sing. Say what you want about Larry Taffy and Soulja Boy, at lesast they rapped.
And even with something like Swizz, which was a devolution, the tide turned with Supreme Clientele and then Kanye and Just took the soul samples mainstream. So it was a matter of years.
We’ve been stuck on the same trap beats for way longer. Using 808s from the 80s and presets.

What was your day?
