Also, how soon do they feel this mission to mars will take place. Surely we don't have the tech to travel to mars while carrying people and supplies. This seems like it wouldn't happen in any of our lifetimes. This ship would have to have fuel to travel to Mars. It would have to be able to house and contain people and supplies and be habitual enough to sustain life during the trip. I don't see this happening in this lifetime. These people may as well sign up to play on a movie about them traveling to Mars, I highly doubt they'll get there during their actual lifetimes.

A one way trip means Jim Jones and developing completely alien ways of surviving the environment which would be against the cultural mores of home. Kind of like prison.

This is going to be a disaster. Being trapped in that small space for years is going to cause people to snap and fukk up equipment. These girls are going to end up pregnant being trapped that long with all those guys and somebody is going to start killing people over hurt feelings or a mental breakdown.

Mental breakdown and some group taking control over the others is what I would be most worried about. Power games, knowing that there is no form of law enforcement...unless human groups have well established traditions, they tend to turn on one another in some way.
