Tony Khan's huge announcement for this wednesday is that he legally changed his name to "Endeavor Group".

Most interesting thing about this deal if it goes through is both Dana and Vince being ticking clocks of impending fukkery, internal fights and legal issues :mjlol:

Would this change anything as to how WWE or UFC fighters get paid? Would WWE go back to talent getting more money the more they draw? I think that's basically the main thing that could affect in the long term...besides La Nariz having to deal with a lot more political power struggles to stay in control of creative.

To be honest though, a booker should never stay in charge for more than 1-2 years. Once they get their best shyt out there and make big money for the promotion, rotation should always be welcomed :manny:

I think people would pay for Mania but they’ll have a hard time even selling Rumble or Summerslam after all this time. Any other show no chance

You’re not wrong. Mania and rumble I would cop. The monthly subscription model is much better for keeping the fans invested

Hell I watch most PLEs because I already have them. It’s a cycle that keeps me interested. PPVs change that, for the worse

My spot is solidified if you ask me

City of Angels :blessed:
Yeah, that’s true for sure

Until raw starts.

At the end of the day people just wanna watch tv. They’ll talk about what they talk about, but the minute the show starts they’re watching, because that’s what their fandom really boils down to. What’s on the tv screen. It’s why creative and whether Hunter is in charge of it is the number one question coming out of any sale discussion.

So nah, I don’t think WWE selling is some huge blow to anyone on the show lol that’s a weird way to frame it. It’s news. Huge news. But it won’t change anyone’s care towards what’s happening on the show

Maybe If the Saudis bought it, but not this. Nick only been telling us a purchase was on the horizon for the last month.

I didn't say it's a huge blow, but it does overshadow it. The headlines tonight and tomorrow and for the next several weeks are on this sale and what it means, etc. The talk is not gonna be CAWdy taking down the Bloodline.

Fans in the arena don't care. I bet the ppl backstage do. Endeavor made massive cuts when they bought UFC. WWE folks gotta be wondering what's next.

Problem is finding someone to competently book is quite the struggle. This isn't some indie company where booking means you just book the matches and that's it.

People are already used to PLE, it’s going to be tough to sell PPVs after they’ve been essentially free for damn near the last ten year

Plus, doesn’t the WWE have a billion dollar long term deal with peacock? They can’t just bag it and go back to PPVs because there will be a new owner

I don’t necessarily think they’re going back to PPVs. Maybe some hybrid thing

They’re not going to go back that route. Now they just gonna stick nikkas up on licensing the content.

Yeah, part of any merger is restructuring to eliminate redundancies and reduce operating costs, since the sale may be financed in some significant portion by debt. Then after that is usually a repositioning of the product to maximize value.

Hell, the Endeavor purchase is how we ended up with a UFC card something like 45 weekends a year. Worst case scenario is that WWE goes back to the dark ages of having 15 PPV/PLE/whatever their called weekends on the schedule, or more. :francis:

At least initially, I'd say people should expect a lot more stuff like last night, where actual show content is essentially paywalled behind Peacock Premium Plus, since it's a way to try to drive higher tier subscriptions they can try to claim responsibility for.
