It's not just that for me. It's the also fact that the album is lacking all of the chit we criticize Em for now. No obnoxious yelling, no Skyler Grey or Alex Da Kid, no Call Of Duty Anthems, no cringey elementary level punch lines, no flappin around like a bapkin rhymes, no "my last album sucked/was heavily criticized, but I'ma make it up to YOU!t" .. just straight flow and beautiful, memorable song writing about his life.

The Em we got now could never in his life make profound songs like White America or even Say Goodbye To Hollywood without some serious guidance. He could never make another "My Dad's Gone Crazy" or "Square Dance" ( which I believe is one of his TOP songs by FAR) without it being extra corny. On the Em Show, breh was telling a story with each bar -- now it seems he just wants to rhyme orange with door-hinge sandwiched between random thoughts on trap beats
Also on TES the cringe-worthy shyt is very subdued compared to what we would get later.

My favorite thing about TES is that on the joint where he's just rhyming to flex skills, it doesn't sound like he's trying too hard. Some of is is the lack of yelling, but also the flow is just smooth and in the pocket. Even when he was raping fast, it sounded much more effortless. Every joint these days sounds like he's trying to prove just how much he can do; how many syllables he can cram into a bar, how crazy he can bend a word's pronunciation to make it rhyme, etc.I think my least favorite thing about Em's rapping right now is that it sounds like he's trying really hard. And previously even if he was trying really hard, it didn't sound like it. It was still cool and sounded effortless.

Even on Relapse, despite the accents and some word-bending, he still sounded really comfortable, in the pocket, and riding a groove on almost all of those beats.

this is where hate for an artist clouds your brain. Em has bars that are weak af. He also has shown over the last 25 years he is very lyrical

You don't know what lyrical means

Eminem is rhyming, his whole thing is putting together rhyme schemes, and rhyming words

He is not lyrical

Scarface is lyrical, Never Seen a man Cry till see a man die, is a more lyrical bar than anything Eminem has ever rapped, that's what you culture vultures don't understand

if Eminem was black he would be Chino XL type rapper, he's not a great lyricist he is a great rhymer of words, its not the same, you can be both, but Eminem isn't, he's not lyrical at all

Lyrical is Nas, I never sleep cuz sleep is the cousin of death, that's a lyrical bar, it has nothing to do with rhymes or syllables, just the meaning of the lyrical

Eminem don't got bars like that, he just a rhymer, he like tech nine, a lot of rappers are way more lyrical than Eminem, but also rhyme words great, like Black thought and mos def

I guess you're in the hall of shame for a reason. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt. Argue with someone else :russ:

The thing about Eminem to me is this.

Even tho his albums are always filled with straight garbage tracks. A lot of bullshyt to sift through. He will always have at least one tremendous highlight each album that will continue to show you why he’s a top notch MC. Not that he’s top notch at making complete classic albums. Just that he can be so nasty as an MC. With this album it’s the song Gnat. When that beat switches to the piano beat and he’s just flowing so nasty on that. That’s the proof right there. No denying it or hating. That shyt was next level. He just does it in spurts now. Better than NOTHING
