I'm an Em stan but God damn i hate the new sound he's developed. Dude is rapping over Imagine Dragons beats half the fukking time. And then his hooks are poppy as fukk. That song from Side A "Leaving Heaven" is the perfect example.

Cliff notes for anyone who doesn't want to watch the interview:

-Side B was made entirely during the pandemic. Because of the lockdowns and stay-at-home orders, all Eminem had time to do was write and record.

-Eminem said Skylar Grey is among the top five most talented people he's ever worked with. :francis:

-Basically confirmed that surprise albums are going to be the norm from now on, because the reaction to Revival gave him the idea that people are going to have expectations of what his albums should sound like, and if they don't match the expectations, people will say they won't listen to it. "If he doesn't have this song on there, I'm not fukking with it."

-"Alfred's Theme" was the first song made for this album. It was Paul Rosenberg's idea to sample the Hitchcock Presents theme song.

-"Book of Rhymes" is the very first time that Eminem's ever worked with DJ Premier. He's been wanting to work with him for a long time. He sent Premier the beat with the lines he wanted him to scratch and it was sent back completed the next day.

-"Guns Blazing" and "She Loves Me" were both songs that Dre sent Eminem. In fact, "Guns Blazing" was already finished before Eminem put in his verse.

-Said that having beats from different producers helps him focus more on the lyrics, because in his early years, if Dre wasn't producing, he would make the beats himself (ignoring the Bass Brothers for some reason).

-Eminem legitimately didn't remember recording "Things Get Worse" when it leaked, and said the lines dissing Rihanna were only said because at the time of doing Relapse, he was literally saying whatever rhymed. He didn't have a problem with what Snoop said and agreed with all of it, but his tone near the end threw him off, and he questioned if Snoop was disrespecting him.

-Wants to keep making albums more frequently. Said in the past, when there was time spent between albums, he was busy with features and side projects (like Hell: The Sequel or Shady XV).

-Also, in the past, he recorded whatever would end up on the album and then he had to go on tour for 6-8 months. He couldn't get in the studio, and the only beats he had were whatever Dre sent him so he didn't get to write as much.

-Not a fan of cancel culture at all, mostly because it's ineffective and the same 4-5 websites who criticize him for something he said in the past are the same websites wondering why he can't go back to that style.

-Said that if he could, he would want to make songs like "Alfred's Theme" and "Tone Deaf" more often, but he knows he has to talk about serious issues, which is where songs like "These Demons" come in.

-"Discombobulated" wasn't the song always meant to close out the album. Not much else is said about the song itself and why it sounds like a Relapse throwback because Em and the host spend time talking about a random line from the song.

I won’t be surprised if we get another album this upcoming year, if he’s saying surprise album will be the norm he’s definitely cooking up more projects. He basically lives in the studio.

I think that's one reason why they made this a deluxe add-on to the original, he probably has a ton of material right now and wanted to get some new stuff out without it being an "actual" album. Similar to what he did with Refill and Recovery.
