Airline pilots of commercial airlines are required to have certain hours of flying before being given the OK to fly a commercial passenger plane. Many are ex airforce or navy pilots and have years of experience before even getting in the seat. As someone else already pointed out, plenty of black African countries have airlines with records as good if not better than non African countries.

IQ doesn't really have as much to do with as many things as people place on it to be honest.

Read Barbara Oakley's books for example as she has a lot of good info in them. One of the world's brightest experts on learning (and was an Electrical Engineer).



Sometimes people who put things into simple terms in order to grasp the complex have unique relationships with the material that allows them to see things very differently. Next thing you know they make a discovery or two and then "They're a genius!" however, they don't have any more or less processing power than some other people. Many famous Mathematicians, scientists and Physicists were/are like this. You can even look up their background stories: many people thought they were slow/dumb. In a lot of ways this society deducts points from you for being a deep, slower thinker unfortunately.

It's funny, I've worked with some people who I consider to be pretty bright, but they aren't fast thinkers. You ask some of them some of them questions or have somebody talk to them in technical detail and you can see them basically at some point stop paying attention (because you've lost them like 10 minutes ago). They'll reply with something like "Ummmmm...yeah" but you know dang well they don't know what them cats were talking about either

However, we've ended up building a pretty great system and codebase here that basically lets us finish our job in a few hours, for the entire week. Excellent system because we thought deep about how to build what we got -designed and built it multiple times, then re-designed and built it again until we got it right. Compared to other teams here, we are basically stress free and our work done is of higher quality. Cleanest codebase here.

My last job and other teams at this current job: a lot of smart "quick" thinkers but horrible system and codebase - a whole bunch of busy work and bandaid fixes with people stressed out.

Our culture expects people to be able to have all the answers for years all resolved in a single conversation. That's why Leetcode and all these other tests result in poor hires who can't built anything good or build shyt with bugs everywhere.

I read this book in french called "Le mythe de l'entrepreneur" by Anthony Galluzzo. It basically focuses on Steve Jobs and the US myth of "self-made men" (lol) and totally destroys that myth. It goes really in depth on how all these so-called "visionaries" just happen to be born at the right place at the right time with the right connections, the right capital and the right story to tell.
