Hell-to-the-No. You're insane if you think the stories in the Bible should be introduced to children in any way, shape or form. It is not for naive optimists and the subject matter is far too adult. The paradoxes, moral issues, metaphors, puns, allegories and ironies are completely lost on them just as they are for many adults.
As far as the subject of this thread, keeping the kid healthy is far more important than anything and finger-pointing won't accomplish it. Action was taken. I may not necessarily agree with it, but I'm not in the parents' position and they are ultimately responsible for 'his' well-being at any cost. The question isn't 'Would some other action be better?', but, 'Is this action enough to ensure his survival as a well-balanced human being?'
