It takes place more than 10,000 years before the movies...and more than 10,000 years after the present day.
But the style of certain things (e.g. sandworms and the Bene Geserit costumes) look a lot like the new movies (as opposed to the 1984 version)

Now we know why Desmond wants to destroy the Sisterhood and I'm glad it's a good motivation. And with the swordmaster being an Atreides I guess he's an ancestor of the kid who ran away in episode 3?

I didn't catch this part but was that actually Valya's nephew meeting with Desmond or the shapeshifter sister looking for info?

One thing that they are playing with is the audience's expectations that the Atradies are automatically the "good guys".

But it seems like both Desmond and the Swordmaster are Atradies or part Atradies, and they can both be looked at as bad in their own ways

All this ai stuff comes from the world building by herberts son. So i think this is how they kinda authethicate his work which people kinda shyt on. I am into the ai twist on god emperor/ai/prescience stuff.

Also. Im not up on dune hostory like that as i only watch summaries and the series/sci fi/movies, this is the link of the start of sardukar being fremen as well righr? I think i remember hearing that sardukar started as warriors from arakis so i guess that ties into that being desmond the first bashar.
