It's supposed to be a formula, the mcu is a continuing series. You just gave a pass to batman and batman returns due to it being sequels. This is the same thing it's just ongoing like it is in the comics. this is a film series based on serial comicbook series.there may be slight creative differences between directors but overall it's supposed to follow the same formula. making everything drastically different and yet trying to tie them together into a coherent continuity would be stupid. (see the most recent star wars trilogy) This is how its always been. they just mad this particular series happened to be successful and maintain it's popularity, whereas most people jumped off the bandwagon after supeman 3 back in the day. putting richard pryor as himself in the movies an shyt, those movies were bad, but directors didn't care to comment on them because they were happy that their 23rd movie about mafia figures or WW2/Vietnam or secret agents was selling more.

The reason you don't see people calling yet another scorsese movie about mafiosos starring deniro formuliac is bacis he isn't running the box office the whole year, The reason they don't call tom cruise playing another spy action thriller formuliac is because he is not dominating the box office the whole year. the list goes on. all this has nothing to do with formula and everything to do with success
