Ok then, so put on your monkey suit and tapdance for that extra 50 cents and maybe whitey will bump you up 2 dollars in a couple years. I understand thats a game you chose to play but i guess its a life i cant relate to. :camby:
I don't have a job, so 'whitey' can't bump me up.

You're the one that works for whitey.. and ur not wealthy enough to frown upon people who wear nicer shoes for a couple more thousand a year.

As soon as I hit first million.. i will dress down a lil. You're speaking about a Billionaire. Most of them wear rolled up sleeves, wrinkled like they can't afford dry cleaning.

But ur right about industry... sorta.. in my industry most people dress like this.. and basically looks like this, lol -

Frown upon? Im sayin its a joke and it is. shyt is sad yall really think you wont get paid what you're worth because of the brand of your shoes. I think its a mental sickness that im glad does not exist in Information Technology.

I cant lie, i thought the same was true, when had less experience but once i was on top of my game i knew getting a job was simplistic because of the sheer amount of morons who are employed right now literally begging to get replaced.

@Blackking most of these guys aren't trying to hear the other talk, way to straight edge and a lot are shut ins.

@ all the brehs

I was talking to the guys in a car thread about how you're perceived and how vehicles are an extension of who you are. Not going to waste my time with talking about vehicles...

Anyways your outfit/appearance is that x10000. I was thinking about the whole shoe thing a few weeks back on my way to ues. I was riding the subway early Friday evening, and I'm usually looking down reading my cell, and noticed the different shoes guys were wearing and you can sort of guess their profession or status. The same obviously goes for their coats, haircuts etc. You'll see handmade dress shoes all the way down. NY is more fashion driven but it hold true everywhere imo. The way you dress has an effect on the people around you, the way you are perceived, and the way they will interact with you.

As a young guy, especially in this day, and age it's important. Ask yourselves at the end of the day do you want to be taken seriously? Whether you're a college student, just starting out in a business somewhere, or are an entrepreneur, always dress for success. Your seniors, peers, and people you need to influence appreciate it. They will gravitate towards success, and the perception of success.

A casual day for me is a dress shirt, nice jeans, nice leather belt, classic watch, and some loafers.

Jackets grab a heavy wool peacoat, Marmont, REI, EMS..

The office culture is changing. Being clean and being dapper are two different things and you're right. If you bring value to the company and you dont have a demon taking credit for your accomplishments, you will be compensated.

Perception doesnt involve communication, friend.

Non-verbal communication, just like body language - how you dress and are perceived is indeed communication.

You should really look to learn from others who have been successful rather then argue about things you're not fit to...ijs

America is one of the only first-world countries that still hold on to that suit and tie shyt.

Actually...no. Depends on what industry you work in but I can assure you that everyone in the financial industry, no matter where in the world, always have business casual/professional as a standard.

And for color combinations,

1. Saudia Arabia/Arabic is a different culture but I bet the attire they got on isn't cheap run of a mil either.

2. Yes, point out one guy in an industry that you typically won't find people dressed up in (IT). That really proves your point. Next you're going to talk about how all these rich people didn't go to college...by fail to realize that's less than 1% of the population.

So yeah, pick out one guy or there's one "manager" in here who has timbs and diamond stud or a ceo who dresses down. the thing is, you're not them , if you're stagnant in your position or you worked 10 years to get manager then you should do some introspection and start with your looks!
