The novelty of just watching basketball for pretty or sexy women would wear off fast if the product isn’t good basketball, I mean people could watch porn if that’s what they’re after:yeshrug:

The production on the court has to get better. If that means lowering the rims so they can dunk, shortening the court, or pumping them full of steroids so they’re more athletic. That’s the only way people will watch.

Of course the ATL
Higher wages are going to come from the media contracts the league signs & ticket revenue. Outside of y’all haters I’d like to see the Women’s game generate more revenue which would justify higher pay for the WNBA players but until there’s demand there it would have to come from endorsement deals with major consumer product brands

I’m not sure what will make the game more exciting but the WNBA should be willing to experiment with pace of play, 4 point shot, expanded player access...concepts the NBA might not do but that the WNBA should absolutely do to generate more interest in the league

Man Lisa leslie was on the wheaties box as kid If I remember.

She was visible..getting females to watch may be the issue.
I always head the idea being floated that the games should be on lifetime and other networks women watch.

I disagree with Dray talking about marketing Diana Taurasi. That wouldn't move the needle.

We all knew who Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie were yet the WNBA ratings were still trash.
That was partially because ESPN had their games on ESPN 2. NBC used to put them right before the NBA on Sunday.

The issue is that the WNBA doesn't do a very good job in making people give af about their product.

Tbh, the women's college game is better to watch than the pros. WCBB over the years have had great squads at UConn, Baylor, LT, Tenn, Stanford, ND, SC, MSU, etc. but when they get to the pros they tend to be forgotten. The coaches are even more well known at the college level.

The Houston Comets gave the WNBA the blueprint.

The early years of the WNBA were great with Swoopes and Leslie. There were a lot of names in women's college basketball that gave the league star power. I don't know what happened but they lost momentum instead of building it.

:russell: she’s alright pretty bytches isn’t going to get anyone watching there’s already nice looking players people see bad bytches everyday on social media

They don’t look as good all sweaty without a pound of make up on, with their hair messy or in a productive style, in a basketball uniform. Besides the games are shot from an overhead camera it’s not like you can really see them.

womens college ball is actually not bad to watch. Don't know why the wnba is so :scust: though

the WNBA is the longest running women professional league. I mean these chicks make more on average than women soccer players, women hockey players etc. yet still complain

I don’t think the product is that bad it’s a finesse game it can be competitive it can be entertaining.

Cappie Pondexter :myman:

shyts just be wack with empty arenas and it doesn’t have the allure of the NBA just feels like you’re watching a lesser league I feel that way about men’s college sometimes too. I think that’s WNBA problem people don’t want to watch a lesser league. The season is also in the summer. There’s better things for people to do than watch WNBA.

People just don’t want to state the obvious, people just aren’t interested in watching women play certain sports. Serena Williams was able to get equal pay for women because the ratings backed her up. Naomi is unlikely to ever have this issue. No one even knows any of the dudes doing gymnastics but we all know the women every Olympics. No one cares about men’s figure skating either. This will likely never change.
