Of course the ATL
Read the article, he's right.

All these corporations talkin about women's empowerment and shyt. Put the money where you mouth is and stop wave riding and doing lip service. That's what he's talking about.

But I know very few read the article so :mjlol:

Exactly. Same thing is happening here in Ga. Recently, a bunch of local, well known Fortune 500 companies in Georgia signed on to be a part of ATL Racial Equity, a pledge to support black people and accelerate racial equity in ATL. Cool, sounds good. The new Jim Crow voting bill comes out and only a handful of the local organizations (Coca Cola, Delta, The Hawks & Arthur M Blank Foundation) have spoken up. It’s all lip service at the end of the day. I hate to be cynical but that’s what it is. Until the players start calling out who’s not supporting them specifically then they won’t get anywhere

That’s not what they said. They said renegotiate the CBA so that when they do make a profit that they get a higher percentage of the revenue. They get like 22 percent versus nba players getting more than half.

I'm not talking about the players. ESPN's people said pay them regardless of profits.

What is the actual difference in what you said?

More of the revenue is more money?

Do ya'll not get that not only are these team ran at a loss it's also subsidized by the NBA?

Again, they shouldn't been ran like a high school league with some of the bullshyt they've had to go through, but, they've had games cancelled for concerts because the money is so bad.

It's not about the money, only, but, the fact these venues don't care to ruin their relationship with WNBA says alot.

People want so bad to make this about sexism.
The difference is that they’re not saying that they want more money, which is what you said. This is about prospective money. I hate the collective IQ of TLR sometimes. You’re a better poster than this typically. You’re arguing with a dude who just said straight up this dynamic will probably never change for no apparent reason but to find a way to wash the women and their supposed supporters.

Chauncey did too.

How about not going straight to insults?

The revenue splits are determined by a lot of stuff, one, is how much money players are bringing in and how much leverage they have.

Steph, Lebron, Harden, etc. etc. have made so much from salary and make so off the court, they straight up can strike if not for that 50, 51, etc. percent.

WNBA players have no leverage. There's no money overseas and most still don't do it.

A bigger split of the revenue share is more money for the players.

What exactly is dumb about my last two posts?

“It doesn’t matter to me that they haven’t turned a profit yet. WHEN THEY DO, they deserve a larger percentage of the income.” - Chauncey :mjtf:

Yes, this is more nuance, but, I'm not stupid for disregarding this hypothecial--Yea, if the WNBA starts generating a billion a year, the players should get atleast half. They don't...

Higher wages are going to come from the media contracts the league signs & ticket revenue. Outside of y’all haters I’d like to see the Women’s game generate more revenue which would justify higher pay for the WNBA players but until there’s demand there it would have to come from endorsement deals with major consumer product brands

I’m not sure what will make the game more exciting but the WNBA should be willing to experiment with pace of play, 4 point shot, expanded player access...concepts the NBA might not do but that the WNBA should absolutely do to generate more interest in the league
I was thinking they could be a great testing ground for things the NBA wants to try but doesn’t want to do it with the Gleague .

I’d imagine some NBA fans would tune in for that .
I will say it is interesting how some people would tune in for the BIG 3 but not WNBA

Nah.

There's a women lingerie football league and it doesn't generate nearly enough views even though most of the women have nice bodies. Women sports just doesn't captivate the masses. People want to see athletic feats that is out of the ordinary. Women sports just don't deliver that. It's gonna be worse going forward with all the options people have on what to watch with all the streaming services and social media.

Draymond is right; the players stay bytching, but offer no pathways towards increase interest in their league.

I propose they play naked. Revenue would skyrocket.

Gilbert Arenas said something like this on his podcast. He said show some skin play in leggings and sport bras or some shyt. You gotta give incentive
