they're both hip hop albums. just different types of hip hop. nwts has more of a hip hop / rnb fusion to it, but gkmc has at least 4 songs that are just as melodic as anything on nwts. that's not to say gkmc is mostly boom bap stuff with either, but has very good music with good bars and thought provoking content. drake is obviously out to solidify his base, the female demographic first and foremost.
that's the biggest issue i have with nwts. it's a good album, but drake took no risks. the equivalent of dude getting in the car completely sober driving 55mph in the far right lane with his seat belt on and both hands on the wheel with the music and cell phone turned off. some real safe sh1t. album should be titled 'more of the same'.

To answer your question, those tracks by The Red Hot Chilli Peppers are Hip Hop influenced, but none of their albums are hip hop albums because they may only "rap" a single verse on one song
what I'm asking you is how is someone who raps/sings over hip hop beats for more than half of their album not hip hop?

Unlike alot of ya on here. Im actually FROM the "HOOD". And I can tell you easily, that the streets fukk with, relate, and play Drake more than Kendrick.
I feel alot of ya internet folk who say silly shyt like that, are actually from the burbs, hip hop nerds, or are white people trying to overcompensate. Regular folks in the hood dont give a fukk about "credibility" if the music is dope, they are gonna fukk with it. Why you think half of these wild nikkas in Chiraq all quote Rick Ross as one of their favorite artist?
