Crazy how both started out as actors before getting into music...

Drake obviously has Degrassi while Bey has You take the Kids...

That’s a lazy criticism to call Drake “pop”. I remember when the Jordan Brand centered their whole commercial marketing campaign around Mos’ “Umi Says”. Ms. fat booty could definitely bump in a Target store.

Umi Says, yes. Ms Fat Booty, not a chance. The politics of self esteem and inadequacies would squash that idea early.

Folks just feel some type of way over Drake’s success. Bro got pop sensibilities, but he can also hop on a preemo track and tear it up.

He's not about to "hop" on anything. He's not walking into any studio by himself and making anything. He'll get sent tracks, and his 2-3 people will sit with it for a day or so, have him voice whatever they come up with and send the results back. That's the difference.

This is such a disingenuous take.

Does Drake make pop songs? Yes. But for every Hotline Bling and In My Feelings he has plenty of traditional rap songs. It’s 2024 not 1993. If that’s the case any rapper post 2008 is a pop artist. Rap is popular music now so expecting artist to move the same way they did 30 years ago is ridiculous. You either adapt or find yourself coming across as an out of touch hater.
This is who you jumped out the window for

“You got my mind in a terrible place
Whipped and chained you like American slaves” :Kd:

And yes he learned it from Weezy
Mos point still stands
Do better champ :Kd:
