I agree with this. I don't like Drake's music all that much though recognize he's a dope MC when he wants to be. But I don't get complaining about having social commentary. That's not his job. He's an entertainer not Marcus Garvey. Stop looking for people to do shyt that's not in their job description.

I will say, Drake mastered the art of being a commercial rapper, at least for this era

1) He's a good MC, so he already has a leg up on his comp
2) He makes very relatable records. I personally don't care for them but women love his music (All races) and so do men. He speaks for the IG, Twitter DM, try to bag a bartender/stripper, trips/flying bytches out generation. That's all these kids care about and relate to (And sadly, a lot of grown ass men), so they fukk with it hard body.
3) He picks good beats and makes good hooks

I'm not a fan of Drake, but this thread is super corny. Substance will not make you a good artist. That's is why I appreciate these new artists alot more than other people will. Alot of artists can make great music with little to no substance.

i wouldn't let his lack of social awareness take away from acknowledging the skills. everyone cant be the GOAT . As far as the music goes he definitely built his own lane...can't name anyone that sounds like him so props for innovation. work ethic is top notch had the amounts of hits in one year that some have in a career. flow is on point and the content is somewhat relatable and intelligent but the bar is low right now. smart enough to know he has to dumb his stuff down for $$ but can be sick at times. i think people relate struggle lyrics with depth or something like that and they don't like the singing but I thought that was called versatility...idk man
