The merch for this album is hard
Excellent post. Drake's hits are so huge that the albums get carried by them. His singles typically are can't miss records that can be played for years. Nobody can take that away from him.The Off-Season was a dope album and this is the level of quality Cole should be aiming for. Even people who weren't impressed by Cole before liked it.
DAMN isn't Kendrick's best album, but it's not garbage. There's too much quality in it to say that, and that just speaks to the standard that Kendrick has set for himself with his projects.
And all of that's cool, but Drake shouldn't be put in any top five or GOAT lists. He doesn't want to challenge himself or prove that he's the best anymore. I don't have a problem with that. Just take him out of that category of legendary rappers. If you want to be the best, your albums have to hit, and there are two other people who put more effort into their work than Drake does.
So nobody listens to albums like that anymore, but people are revisiting Drake albums? Which is it? I don't know why you guys go around acting like albums don't matter when you don't want them to. Drake doesn't have to make albums anymore. He can do singles for the rest of his career like Jennifer Lopez and eat off those. You release an album, that's another body of work to add to your discography. It counts. If you don't want it to count, don't make an album.
And you said it yourself, the huge singles and certain B-sides are keeping those albums on the charts. As an entire body of work, how do those albums hold up? From start to finish, which Drake albums have the quality in 2021? I'll give you Take Care, what are the other ones? Come on, tell me.
EDIT: Just checked the Billboard 200 and Kendrick and Cole both have spots there for GKMC and 2014 FHD, respectively. I guess Drake isn't the only one having his albums revisited off the strength of singles and B-sides.......in reality.
What formula? Drake has made every kind of songAnother safe stick to the formula effort from Drake.
His 2020 run was tho...
This album sounds like he didn't want to go all in with the R&B like he initially said he was going to do for this. Didn't want to take too much risk, that's what I'm feeling as I play this.
this stance is stupid because you cant take this stance unless you keep a universal outlook or you are going to look like a hypocrite. No dog in this race, but I assume his point is there are millions of songs that Drake could’ve sampled, but he chose to sample music from a guy who is a defendant in a high profile disturbing case.
Not really his b-side and deep cut catalog is prolific so he just can’t be a singles artist.Excellent post. Drake's hits are so huge that the albums get carried by them. His singles typically are can't miss records that can be played for years. Nobody can take that away from him.
I never just go and play his albums straight through tho, I can do that with other releases from other artists easily.

The Off-Season was ok…if we being honest as a thematic work KOD was better and should be held in higher regard. The Off-Season felt like a return to Cole’s mixtape work as far as spitting. Still Cole isn’t making his best music in 2021 and that album kinda came and went if being real. The Off-Season was a dope album and this is the level of quality Cole should be aiming for. Drake's formula for albums is always the same. He goes in with the same mindset which is to check off boxes for each demographic that is a fan of his. What formula? Drake has made every kind of song
and yes Cole has had the same formula since 2014
The Jackie is more fun than anything Cole has done since born sinner
