well Gohan's a lost cause but ChiChi need to fall back and let Goten be great.

The transformations were about what Trunks knows and where he's at, in order to gauge Black as an opponent. If you can't get that, even with a good sub, then maybe Shonen is too much for you and you need to kick back to Kodomo.

I think anybody with half a brain realized that was Goku going on a recon mission. Notice he's purposefully defensive the entire time until he decides to just end the sesh.
Feel like if Goku was actually fighting back and giving Trunks hands and he was keeping up, the complaint is 100% sound.

The point is, Goku shouldn't have to transform to gauge Black's strength through Trunks because Goku's base form is many times stronger than Trunk's bum ass SSJ 2 transformation. Even in the episode Trunks states states he had a "difficult" fight with Deborah. Base Goku would 1 shot Deborah.
Show me where it says this is stated anywhere in the anime or manga.

Super did it wrong(again), yet we still have the same tap dancing ass nikkas making excuses for this inconsistent ass series.
What should've happened:
1.Trunks powers up to his bum ass ssj2 transformation.
2. Trunks asks Goku isn't he going to transform? Goku says he doesn't have to.
3.Base Goku proceeds to outclass Trunks and explain that there are even higher forms than ssj2.
4. Trunks gauges where Goku's strength is compared to black.

He shouldn't have had to transform to do that tho. He tests Hit in his base form, but has to power up to test ssj2 Trunks.

Exactly. Goku said that shyt himself. Whenever he tried to do SSJ3 in his living body his stamina would burnout quickly. That's why he lost damn near all of his energy fighting Kid Buu and had to resort to the Spirit Bomb.

As far as the ep goes it was interesting how trunks said kaioshin helped him beat dabura
Also base goku would of beaten ssj2 trunks but the writing is so damn inconsistent
Cuz frieza final form which is stronger than before got that work from goku and frieza first form ko Gohan regardless him being out of shape he was ssj
As far as that ssj3 shyt goes it was stated long ago he achieved it quicker cuz he was dead being dead makes time go by slower on earth but faster in the other world remember beginning of Dbz when he died he trained longer than normal but on earth time it wasn't as long
As far ssj3 living it does take a massive toll cuz of him being alive that he has to train his body to get use too it

episode was decent, only thing is they need to find a new gimmick for the cat and his keeper, the food thing is being ran into the ground real fast. They also need to make another special with Trunks fighting off Dabura and Babidi in his timeline, would like for them to expand on that, that little flashback wasn't shyt

U have to have a TON of energy to get to SSJ3. Which is why Goku was able to achieve it when he was dead and with unlimited energy, and Gotenks thru fusion. SSJ2 is pretty much the limit for Saiyans in normal situations. That said, it's not a stretch that Saiyans can get almost as strong when they're still in SSJ2 form. They just can't transform into SSJ3.
Goku wasn't able to touch Beerus really while in SSJ3 when they first fought, yet Vegeta was able to SSJ2 when he had that sudden best of power that one moment.
