Well shows like MHA really harp on the "What makes a hero" concept beyond just beating bad guys so that may be a point. I think the sticking point with goku is that he's a martial artist first and a protector/familyman second. I mean in the current story frieza is pretty much running free conquering every planet that isnt earth. I agree that he's not some pure "true hero" like midorya, but more like a luffy where indulging his whims always happens to include saving scores of people.
But people go too far with it acting like he's morally gray and doesnt give a fukk about nothing but fighting.

As far as the endings thing those weren't necessarily true either.. He would always say he didn't know when it would end or he didn't plan on it going so long... I don't think he ever had a specific plan to end it but he did say he hit a wall after a couple years only to have his bosses and it's popularity beg him to continue. I remember reading it was actually in og Dragon ball against piccolo Jr that he was saying he got worn out...

When did he actually put the world in danger by direct action, and not merely existing?
If we take it further, in OG Dragonball, Goku was killing dudes left and right. It was only after training with Kami did he stop dropping bodies.
He allowed Freeza to power up to 100%
He could have killed off Dr. Gero before he made the Androids
He chose not to go SSJ3 against Vegeta to save his ego. He would have beaten him easily and Buu wouldn't have hatched.(I'm a Vegeta Stan and hate saying that one)
He said he may have been able to beat Fat Buu in SSJ3 but wanted the kids to do it instead.
The last two got everyone killed and the Earth destroyed..
And most of those decisions actually are the result of his Saiyan desire to test his strength.
And truthfully he may have told everybody that he wanted to stay dead because he was trouble to the Earth, but in reality he found strong fighters in the afterlife to fight.

It’s been awhile since I watched the red ribbon army saga, but did he actually have the chance to off Gero? 13 year old Goku was racking up bodies.
I don’t know if you can fault him for not going SSJ3 against Vegeta. He knew it would accelerate his time on Earth, he just didn’t know how much. 5 minutes vs Buu and powering up for like 10 seconds cut his time on earth by like 8 hours.
And while I’m a Goku Stan, I’m not sure he could have beat fat Buu in the time limit.
With Dr Gero, I'm talking with when trunks came back. Bulma suggested they just go kill Dr Gero and Vegeta suggested he'd rather fight and Goku agreed
As far as beating Fat Buu, Goku just said he could have.. It's never been really proven

Freeza when he tested the Scouters
Broly trying to fight with Whis but he was just toying with him. Freeza getting that Work from Broly when he though he could just stand back and be a spectator. Beerus having to BabysitI Loved the movie guys. Toriyama basically took "Broly 1" , "Bardock Story" and "Dragon Ball Minus" and combined them for a new story for a new generation. Loved all the sayian scenes with King Vegeta. Seeing Goku Mom animated was great. I liked Broly and Paragus updated designs. Though I will always love the originals. My only complaint was they kind of made you feel sorry for Broly's character where as before he was just ruthless. I kind of liked him like that. But I understand the switch. They obviously want to keep him in Universe. The last fight was dope seeing Vegeta in God form was ILL. Broly was all powerful as usual, lol. Loved Freeza's soldiers again. Overall it was great to see on the Big Screen. The American actors didn't do bad at all though I had to watch the raw version ASAP. Also the movie did great at the box office grossing over 100 Million. I know a "Live Action" film can be a success with the right story and team. But for now, I would love more animated movies. If they bring "Super" back, we can possibly have a Broly arc. But it was the best Broly since the original. I loved Part 2 but this was better. Bio-Broly was and still is a mess, lol. But really good film.

no hate, but why are so many people worried about piccolo fusing? damn-near 30 of the strongest namekians just fused... and got one-shotted.
fukk is piccolo gonna do but get his ass beat too? at this point, piccolo is even less of a factor than gohan. at least with gohan, they can always plausibly tease a return to form.
would much rather they start exploring new ways to make the weak characters relevant, like when they used piccolo as a trainer for goten/trunks/gotenks. shyt, do something to shake things up (moro has been a great start, so far).
