That, and Gokus japanese voice weird as fukk, especially it being done by a woman tooI watched subbed too i just like not having to read the screen. Why does a grown man sound like that
He's a fukking idiotMoro is a baaaad man. Pun intended.

why do people still say this, I swear memes and youtubers done took over people brains. The noble part is because Goku was never written as a hero and was never really meant to be.. He's a good guy that will defend his friends and understands right from wrong but his main goal is strength.
Funimation initially tried to paint him as a Superman type character because that's what we're used to seeing from our main characters like Goku..
She also voices Adult Gohan and Bardock and I never hear complaints about them.. Truthfully I didn't know it was a female voice actor until probably 2002ish.. Goku's voice is light but not feminine to me..
I'm not knocking the dub at all as they've gotten way better over time now that they're experienced.

Dragon Ball Creator On Whether Goku Should Be Considered A Herowhy do people still say this, I swear memes and youtubers done took over people brains.
Dude killed himself to protect the earth and asked his friends not to save him because his presence further puts it in danger.
I get that the content is 15+ years old while the DBS is b*stardizing his character present day but damn
Goku's voice really only bothers me when he's screaming.
Like when broly gave him that work in the movie, or he is throwing rapid punches.
He's initally made in the vein of "martial artist who relishes a challenge" in the og DB but he's already defied that characterization multiple times over.Dragon Ball Creator On Whether Goku Should Be Considered A Hero

In the world of Dragon Ball, there is no character more popular than Son Goku. The buff Saiyan made a name for himself back in the 1980s when the franchise made its debut, and his popularity only climbed when Toei Animation adapted the manga into an anime. Since the show premiered, fans have come to associate Goku with top-tier superheroes like Superman and Iron Man, but there are plenty who argue that the protagonist is no righteous hero.
And, apparently, one of those naysayers is the creator of Dragon Ball to boot.
In light of Dragon Ball Super’s newest arc, fans have yet again started to debate how heroic Goku is. Certainly, audience members can have their own interpretation of Goku and his motivations, but fans are pointing out a resurfaced interview with Akira Toriyama to help prove their point about Goku’s neutrality.
Speaking to WIRED, Toriyama was asked about Dragon Ball’s main character, and the creator admitted he had issues with how Dragon Ball Zdepicted Goku.
“There’s how, basically, Son Goku from Dragon Balldoesn’t fight for the sake of others, but because he wants to fight against strong guys,” Toriyama said.
“So once Dragon Ball got animated, at any rate, I’ve always been dissatisfied with the “righteous hero”-type portrayal they gave him. I guess I couldn’t quite get them to grasp the elements of “poison” that slip in and out of sight among the shadows.”
Fans have also gone so far as to examine iconic bits of Goku’s past to illustrate how heroic or altruistic his actions are. One of the hero’s most debated points is in Dragon Ball Z as Goku makes an important speech to Freeza after he goes Super Saiyan for the first time. In English, the speech is a sticking point for pro-hero fans as Goku tells the baddie he is “the hope of the universe” and a “protector of the innocent.”
However, the original dub for Dragon Ball Z paints a less flattering picture of the hero. In Japanese, Goku simply says he is “a Saiyan who came from Earth” to defeat Freeza and that is “heart was awakened by violent rage.”
I agree with DB not being written that well but I'm pretty sure I've seen Akira say this same sentiment somewhere else.. He just never intended Goku to be this hero like we see heroes...He's initally made in the vein of "martial artist who relishes a challenge" in the og DB but he's already defied that characterization multiple times over.
And honestly its not the first time Toryiama 180's on characterization. See: Vegeta (and piccolo...and buu....and beerus...)
In the span of less than one arc the dude goes from ego driven homicidal madman who beat gohan half to death for no reason to mellowed out family man, to "pure hearted saiyan" by super
Toriyama is not that great of a writer to toe that line of morally dubious martial artists that relishes a challenge. Every antihero on this show has done a heroic sacrifice
The "not a true hero" shyt is mainly applied to his habit of letting his opponents live to slink away, lick their wounds and attack again. The character you really wanted to describe is garou from onepunch man
