I will give him credit for his strategy against Botomo (even though he prepped for him pre-tournament). He also had decent adaptions against Lavender and Obuni (reminded me of Goku at the beginning of Z).

It felt more like Gohan was using his battle experience which was mainly counters of special techniques. However, I also give him props for eliminating Botamo. Whereas Android 17 displayed battle smarts and strategy he blasted the Kamikaze 3 during transformation, baited Kakunsa into attacking him only to form his barrier, he eliminated Vakil as soon as she was distracted talking to Kakunsa as he knew she would be a threat because of her wings and lastly he used his environment(Lightbulb) to his advantage to finish off Kakunsa.
