All three of the men you mentioned have documented actions and results that directly "did something for Black people", which was what my post was in response to.
Through the organization they were affiliated Black people in this country benefited directly.
The speeches they gave were a small part of what these men did.
With Dr. Umar Johnson, the speeches/sermons/lectures make up the bulk of not totality of what he's done.

And to be honest there’s nothing wrong with this if these words spark And influence the people who will do the work out here on the fields.

Above the fray.
That’s why I specifically said those were the footsteps Umar was attempting to follow. I even bolded attempting, because I know how protective we are over those names and their legacies.

I’m too wise to ever go to battle or make direct comparisons with a ghost. I realize that’s the Mt Rushmore of the negro king dome that will never be replaced.

Umar is no Malcolm or Martin

:hubie:
Umar is in over his head for the school project. Members who have experience with school administration, fundraising, construction, zoning/building codes, etc have tracked the progress as he's released it, and they ALL doubt that the school can open or sustain operation.
Black men voicing their opinion with no ulterior motive.
Most reasonable people can see what it is.

With this track record, whose footsteps is Umar trying to follow?

Umar will eventually end up having a broader reach because his message of Pan Africanism is less divisive and more inclusive.

Plus he knows how to speak about Black woman’s frustration with the “Snow Bunny Crisis” :pachaha:

My daughter is a student at an HBCU and slightly on the feminist tip. But her and her friends love Umar, because he publicly has conversations about interracial dating that most brothers are only brave enough to have in private.

Umar gets Africa, the Islands, South America and young Black (non c00n) women on his team. He’s gonna have a solid diverse base of support that Tariq doesn’t.

Yes I notice this too, what will be used against Umar is the schools, in the end that will always be the easy crux some people use who actually disagree with what he speaks but don’t want to come across as outright c00ns, so will shift to ‘But he’s a scammer’ that will be his Achilles heel because for the most part even if you don’t agree with what he says you can’t doubt that he speaks well and is very well educated.

Tariq on the other hand people who don’t like him will always refer to his treatment and denigration of other Non- FBA black folk, to label every or attribute all clownish behaviour to Non Fbas will be what stops him gaining true traction as a respected leader in the way some others have in the past, sometimes he’s right sometimes wrong, but I feel he has over used that narrative now for short term gain but history may tell a different story when all said and done.

I have no doubt this is true. But this is my issue. Instead of trying to throw the brother a life vest, I see too many Black folks giddy to fill his boat full of bricks.

All I’m asking is to give flawed and imperfect Black men, the same grace, support and latitude you would give a white politician that robbed Haiti or befriended a former Klansman.

Plenty of people have tried to help him. Go watch that Lord Jamar interview then tell me he's serious about opening a school. He's not.

Jokes and deflections.

In an election you have choices, and have to make informed decisions for the people who make the LAWS.
Choosing wrong or sitting elections out opens up the door for what the open enemies of Black people are trying to push right now. And there's nothing funny about that.

Flaws and imperfections should be acknowledged and worked on, to improve. 6 months from TODAY'S date, Umar will be copping the same pleas and his supporters will be making the same excuses/deflections. That's easier than facing reality, I guess.

Okay cool.

Then who is the Black man that is currently opening a school that addresses the specific issues that Umar has been speaking on? And where is his support base coming from?

Point me to this brother and I will donate TODAY.

Hypothetically, yes.
In reality, I think YTers attract audiences of people who aren't inclined to put in real world work to affect change.
Like I mentioned earlier, the bar/criteria for YTers is very low. Apparently their inconsistencies mean nothing, as their audiences are reluctant to hold them accountable.

Most people who are active in the community see what reality is, are frustrated by it, and take action to try to change things.

Umar should have focused on developing a subscription-based online supplemental curriculum.

Would have taken far less capital and allowed him to scale fast.

He went to big out the door, i think if he somehow would have been able purchase a much smaller building he would have been up and running by now, shoot i think he could do a franchise model schools strictly for/ran by and franchised by ADOS. Jewish people do it.
