I haven't seen his full interview just the bit about Naomi Osaka and I completely disagree with him. He cannot know the facts of her relationship with both sides of her family so had no right to speak on it.
Well actually it’s well documented.

Umar been trending all day over the web (Worldwide) for droppin that heat, meanwhile ya manz Tariq on clubhouse arguing with thots :francis:

Life funny sometimes :pachaha:
Umar will eventually end up having a broader reach because his message of Pan Africanism is less divisive and more inclusive.

Plus he knows how to speak about Black woman’s frustration with the “Snow Bunny Crisis” :pachaha:

My daughter is a student at an HBCU and slightly on the feminist tip. But her and her friends love Umar, because he publicly has conversations about interracial dating that most brothers are only brave enough to have in private.

Umar gets Africa, the Islands, South America and young Black (non c00n) women on his team. He’s gonna have a solid diverse base of support that Tariq doesn’t.

He delivered some sermons. There's a segment of every Black community worldwide who will follow any person with oratory skills.

Oh, and be clear it is a sermon. Dudes will criticize the church and older Black people, but are guilty of some of the things they point fingers at the older generation for.

If a religious figure was reported to have done half of what these YTers do regularly....dudes would be tripping over themselves to call the congregants all types of fools and sheep.

But here they are, jumping up like church ladies.

You’re right.

But a sermon is just a lecture with more charismatic delivery.

Sermons are a very effective tool of communication.

Malcolm was a minister that delivered plenty of sermons. So did the Reverend Martin Luther King. And Minister Farrakhan:

Umar is attempting to follow the steps of a great tradition in this country. YouTube is the new pulpit. Especially with COVID and physical church attendance dwindling nationwide.

Dude has the potential to be a problem. I expect the Black liberal and conservative elite to throw some more smut on his name to try to get him out of here. There is definitely a group of folks that need to see him discredited, dead or in prison before he has a chance to “spread” the values and rhetoric.

It’s cool when he can be used as fodder for jokes or memes.

But he’s getting too much traction for his words. (The Sermon part)

They bout to get that nikka outta here. And will probably use Black folks to do the dirty work. (Also a great American tradition)

???
All three of the men you mentioned have documented actions and results that directly "did something for Black people", which was what my post was in response to.
Through the organization they were affiliated Black people in this country benefited directly.
The speeches they gave were a small part of what these men did.
With Dr. Umar Johnson, the speeches/sermons/lectures make up the bulk, if not the totality of what he's done.

I disagree

The speeches (words) have the power of longevity . It’s what’s lived on long past their deaths. I’ve never personally been effected by Malcolm’s work and deeds. He was dead and gone before I was even born. But the words..

The Bible states transformation comes from the renewing of your mind. Malcolm’s “actions” didn’t change the lives of millions of brothers in prisons. His WORDS did.

Ultimately no one man has the responsibility to “do shyt for Black people” we are supposed to do for ourselves. That starts with a change in mentality.

This is why I disagree with the Tariq’s of the world that feel all of our problems will be solved by “resources’.

The NOI with Malcolm as the spokesperson and then with Farrakhan as the leader has transformed and rehabilitated the lives of millions of Black people worldwide with direct training, instruction, and guidance and through their schools.
MLK and other members of the Civil Rights Movement advocated and got FEDERAL and local laws and measures passed that both of us benefit from today.
Malcolm's uncompromising life example and actions directly inspired the Black Panthers, built international bridges with Blacks overseas as well as people of other races around the globe. All made possible by his reputation, that not even the FBI could find shadiness.

The words of these men will live on because of the concrete things they were able to do, or contribute to during their lives.

These were the wrong three men to compare to Umar Johnson.

That’s why I specifically said those were the footsteps Umar was attempting to follow. I even bolded attempting, because I know how protective we are over those names and their legacies.

I’m too wise to ever go to battle or make direct comparisons with a ghost. I realize that’s the Mt Rushmore of the negro king dome that will never be replaced.

Umar is no Malcolm or Martin

Most of his points are solid but I honestly think he would rather keep kicking this can down the road to buy time. This Breakfast Club interview should put him over the top in terms of donations but from what I've heard about him turning down free labor referrals in this topic, he knows this school isn't happening anytime soon.

I would not anticipate the FDMG staff being paid anymore than minimum wage whenever it opens, if that.
