Hypothetically, yes.
In reality, I think YTers attract audiences of people who aren't inclined to put in real world work to affect change.
Like I mentioned earlier, the bar/criteria for YTers is very low. Apparently their inconsistencies mean nothing, as their audiences are reluctant to hold them accountable.

Most people who are active in the community see what reality is, are frustrated by it, and take action to try to change things.
We had this conversation before. YouTube is just a technological tool. It’s not the boogeyman you keep trying to present it as.

I’m sure there was some old head in the late 1800 s talking about how “Y’all Telephone negros just talking and not doing the work”

Then in the early 1900’s there was some old head saying “Y’all radio nikkas just talking in not doing the work”

Then it evolved to “Yall television negros just talking and not doing the work”

Instead of criticizing the effectiveness of the technology. Why don’t you find a way to effectively use it to promote your agenda?

White folks get it. That’s why they were able to use Rush Limbaugh as the catalyst to fundamentally define and carry a political party and he probably never got off his fat ass once to do real work in the field.

We are in the communication era. Stop complaining and compete. Show the brothers your ideas are better than “YouTube nikkas”. You have the same access and opportunity they do.

My objective is different from theirs. I don't crowdfund or desire to.

There's a long history of grassroots organizations in my area. I don't have to reinvent the wheel, I support those who are in the field. That's why I can instantly spot the difference between them and the entertainers.

We complain about Umar and Tariq on this forum on a daily basis. But where are the alternatives?

Bakari Sellers was on The Breakfast Club over a year ago and his video is at 80,000 views. Umar dropped yesterday and is already at 800,000 views.

All the education and credentials don’t matter if nobody is listening.

You gotta compete.

Compete with who? Most of the entire world's worth of information is readily accessible. People who are going to move the needle and affect the lives of their people don't need to be prompted and walked by hand by a media personality.

Wow you’re stubborn.

We just saw a failed reality show host grift his way to more votes than Barrack Obama ever received, but you still believe in doing things “the right way”.

I mean. Good luck. Maybe knocking on doors and handing out pamphlets still works. But I think the paradigm shift has already occurred.

Churches are dying. Schools haven’t been open in over a year in some communities. Youth sports participation is at all time lows. Grass roots field work ain’t gonna be what it once was. And I’m speaking as someone who’s dedicated most of my adult life to working with them.

You have to adapt and compete. Or just sit around and complain about how all the sheep are following the wrong shepherds.

Back to my original comment, people looking for feel good sermons will seek them out.
Those looking for other things will seek them out.

Water will find it's own level.

Don’t know the curriculum of other HBCUs, but Afro American history was a requirement at
NC A&T. It’s a required freshman course.

Still think the interview was good, though.
I just asked my daughter because I was curious and she said they are now only required to take a course called The History of A&T.

Dr Umar got them computers putin on campus and got them looking at their curriculum and professors crazy.

Yea, I know that course was a UNST level course, that is/was required for freshman, and I remember while I was there, there’d been talks of not making those courses a requirement anymore. This was around 2013. I guess they finally went through with it.

Umar might have been right in his statement :ohhh:

Nah.

None of this shyt is new at all.

I been around these circles in my much younger days and it's always been a thing

read up on the days of Marcus Garvey and who was all running around in his era.

These camps predate allllllll your favorite Youtubers

So let's see...

Pan Afrikans

ADOS

Moors

Hebrew Israelites

NOI/FOI

Hoteps

Black Christians

And all are seemingly in opposition against each other over who's version is "right".

This shyt don't seem like a psyop to yall?

Umar is in over his head for the school project. Members who have experience with school administration, fundraising, construction, zoning/building codes, etc have tracked the progress as he's released it, and they ALL doubt that the school can open or sustain operation.
Black men voicing their opinion with no ulterior motive.
Most reasonable people can see what it is.

With this track record, whose footsteps is Umar trying to follow?

People don't understand the difference between biting off more than one can chew, and trying to hustle the people, are two different things in dealing with business..

Anyone who's donating to any cause need to see of the person who's leading the cause knows what they're doing.. I have no doubt Umar wants to help kids, but the people who was donating to the school should've did more research to see of Umar could really pull this off..
