By saying Snoop 'blew up' Dr Dre you are saying that he wasn't already well known and wasn't an established name. The original argument I quoted, which started my back and forth with someone else before you jumped in, the thread starter was using this whole 'Snoop on The Chronic' as a way to say that Dr Dre wasn't influential. That is what you are co signing right now.

He helped Dr Dre created a classic, well selling westcoast gangsta rap album. Something that Dr Dre already had under his belt.

You are also not factoring in that Hip Hop as a whole was selling more in 93 and 94 than in 1988 and 1989. Very few rap records were going double platinum in 1989.

im not even gonna get into the whole Diddy shyt..that nikka aint really do shyt but have good marketing tactics/schemes...a good ear and basically take credit for everybody else shyt...oh yea he also danced in videos n shyt..lol..

Let me not say producer as producer is the beat maker nowadays,but diddy managed to put together solid albums for himself,Mase,Black Rob,G Dep and that Shyne is classic too me...I think he oversees a lot of that and says what should go on the album,tells them what kinda energy they need and how they should say certain things,what kinda song they need that will fit the albums overall sound...executive production.

What Dre did for Snoop ain't uncommon and if another label picked em up which I don't see how they wouldn't and coulda taught him how to make songs....who else could Dre have gotten to rap on Chronic and build the buzz like Snoop did?...there's nobody,nobody as a emcee is matching snoop in his prime at that time imo...he's the most anticipated emcee of all time strictly off the way he wuz spitting.....so far Dre hasn't shown confidence in his own rap ability to carry him as a star with just him rapping and his beats,he knows he lacks the star power,he's smart enuff to know that as the executive producer on these projects....how can y'all be so sure Chronic is seen as its seen today without Snoop and that Dres looked at with the same respect as he is today if it isn't received in that way?

Snoop on the Chronic is defining moment in hiphop,Dre is part of that and deserves credit....chronic on its own is not a defining moment in hiphop....I think its another west coast classic that does well but is basically swept under the rug by the east coast controlled hiphop media....the reason it didn't imo is bcuz they couldn't front on Snoops greatness at the time....snoop is neccesary to make Chronic the nationally received,iconic album it is....without em Dres not looked at as Dre...we all know Snoop needed Dres direction as well but he's not the first rapper too,not the first rapper to fall off without guidance of that great producer....its a marriage but Snoop bought home the bacon on the chronic
