A link to the 1970 Daniel Moynihan letter he references at the 25 minute mark

it was EXTREMELY difficult to find. I'm sure that was not by chance.

:ohhh:

Second. The time may have come when the issue of race could
benefit from a period of "benign neglect. 11 The subject has been too
much talked about. The forum has been too much taken over to
hysterics, paranoids, and boodlers on all sides. We may need a
period in which Negro progress continues and racial rhetoric fades.
The administration can help bring this about by paying close attention
to such progress - - as we are doing - - while seeking to avoid situations
in which extremists of either race are given opportunities for martyr
dom, heroics, histrionics or whatever. Greater attention to Indians,
Mexican Americans and Puerto Ricans would be useful. A tendency
to ignore provocations from groups such as the Black Panthers might
also be useful. (The Panthers were apparently almost defunct until
the Chicago police raided one of their headquarters and transformed
them into culture heroes for the white -- and black -- middle class.
You perhaps did not note on the society page of yesterday's Times
that Mrs. Leonard Bernstein gave a cocktail party on Wednesday to
raise money for the Panthers. Mrs. W. Vincent Astor was among the
guests. Mrs. Peter Duchin, !!the rich blond wife of the orchestra
leader" was thrilled. "I've never met a Panther, II she said. This is
a first for me. ")

Peep the fourth suggestion. What he's saying is to give more attention to the c00ns.

Now this is the shyt I can get behind. He spoke about solutions. Here we speak about problems and then blame/hate white folk for everything and at the end of the conversation we're no better off in mindset than we were at the start. People that don't care about you can't/won't help you, so you can cry till your tears fill dasani warehouses and it won't make a difference. Its fukked up when even your own people with wealth/money shyt on you, see:rap music. It's fukked up that you have to be an athelete/entertainer just to be able to afford a house in the same neighborhood as folks that are doctors/lawyers/dentists etc. We're laborers/consumers instead of being owners/producers and once we get money we stop giving a fukk about our own, who am I kidding? You can't stop doing something you've never started.

That's why black capitalism can never work. Until the political economy changes, a majority of our people will continue to populate the poor class. Racial oppression is systemic and therefore the system is broken and has to be gradually or immediately changed or the same cycle will continue...

As usual he is detailed and spot on. More importantly, some of things he said, have also been said by folks who are not as educated, but we dismiss them as being militant or smart-dumb nikkas
You can't wait until a black person becomes rich to start trying to convince them of their duties to right the wrong of the wealth balance in this country
You can't depend on rich black folks, while you continue to be willfully ignorant with your financial, social, consumer, and educational decisions
You can't let the experience and opinions of black folks who depend on white support to be your sole litmus test for the socio-economical state of black folks

I pretty much agree with what you are saying in the rest of this post, but I have a problem with this. I've seen folks provide solutions, but then are countered with
bu bu you can't tell nobody what to do with their money
bu bu these dudes are ignorant and militant, fawk what they preaching
bu bu you can't blame white folks
bu bu you don't know what he/she is doing to help
