The game is the game. He's gonna go the $50+, but the problem is he needs to be top 5 for that money if the team is going anywhere. How we distributed the money on this team is nuts and I honestly think he can be replaced a little easier without crashing the team..... I didn't want them to give Trent money OR Bosa money for the Purdy contract reasons. We have an overpaid defense too. It's musical chairs and eventually someone is gonna get left out because we can't cut anyone and we can't pay anyone.

I do agree with this. I think the way the 49ers handled this last offseason overall showed a lack of foresight which is weird because it was kind of a strength in seasons prior.

I'm aware and they are purposely avoiding topics that discuss how well Purdy is actually playing out there. They are avoiding advanced metrics like the plague because it doesn't fit their fukked up worldview of what's going on out there..
We don't have much choice but to pay Purdy. Some teams have been looking for a Pro Bowl level QB for years... can we afford to play around and look for someone else?

You keep making jokes about that. But why you bullshytting I’d be happier with paying Purdy and be forced to search for quality players deep in the draft.

I hope the brehs wanting to replace Brock realize that Purdy is one of three good QBs that got drafted since 2021. There's been more than 40 QBs drafted since and you can make a case that maybe 5 have been worth a damn (Purdy included) I honestly don't know what more evidence people want that current QB play in the NFL is mostly pedestrian and that there is no simple way of getting a legit top 3-5 QB.
The fact we have a bad OLine makes it even dumber to think we can just plug and play any decent QB and expect him to both fit in Kyle's system and his a$$hole way of coaching, PLUS dealing with an OL that will have to be revamped.
It is true that we got to the SB with a worse QB in Jimmy G but he had an incredible defense and a more competent OL (younger Trent, Richburg/Mack at Center, a slightly less garbage RG/RT combo). There's none of that now.
So again, I hope people thinking we can just replace Brock realize that not renewing him means 2-3 years of a rebuild at least and we gotta hope and pray we get lucky as fukk again and pick a good QB in the draft in that timeframe. That's waaay more dangerous to me than getting rid of Kyle, which I know comes with its own risks as well

There is no reasonable contract in today's NFL for a good QB, let alone one than fits like a glove for a team's system. The way I see it there's two scenarios.
1.-We pay him that ridiculous contract and take a gamble on the playmakers that are under contract and pray we get an even better draft class than 2024 for the next two years.
2.-We don't pay him and pray for an even bigger miracle that we either draft 3 future All Pro-Pro Bowl level OLinemen -so any decent QB can get Ws in Kyle's system- or that we get another Brock in the draft.
I have more hope in scenario 1 than 2.
