@Spin I'm watching this. But 1:25 in and she's manage to conflate, parliamentary government and social democracy and confuse those with democratic socialism. It's not a great start.

Edit: Ok, done with that. Yeah, Kyle has a pretty decent description of DS. Certainly more accurate than MSNBC.

I honesty don't know enough about the charter school system to make a decent comparison between the two. So initial questions I have are: what does funding between the two look like, what does teacher pay between the two look like, how does a charter school pick the kids that come to their school?

This is a quick breakdown. The only thing it doesn't really address is teacher pay. I think the structure of teacher compensation should be restructured entirely. Under both systems you could argue teachers are "underpaid". I don't know if the solution is to raise teacher salaries to 200k or something, but some type of housing/rent voucher I would be ok with. Especially teachers willing to teach in "bad" areas. There is more a vested interest on the teachers part if they live in the same communities they teach.

How are Charter Schools Funded?

how does america do more to fight poverty than any nation on earth? and saying that by itself ignores that we're one of the richest countries on the planet and still have an unacceptable gap between the very wealthy and everyone else.

also keep in mind the gop recently passed a tax cut that disproportionately benefits the richest people and corporations. reality has shown when you give them more money they don't share it. trickle down doesn't work.

Where on earth are blacks doing better as a group though? For all of "America's issues", there isn't one place where it's easier for blacks to economically improve themselves. In some parts of the world, you literally have people starving. In America one of the biggest issues in poor communities is obesity. Obesity is a choice. You can say "they only put mcdonalds and crap food in the hood". Well that's called convenience. 3rd world nations don't have that convenience. It's not just poor black areas either. Poor areas in general in this country have an obesity issue.

There are many ways to break into a six figure income without a college degree. One is learning a trade. Another is joining the military and leveraging that experience once you get out. Out of every option right now, the military is the fastest way for someone who is in poverty to get themselves out overnight. You get a check, housing paid for, food paid for, experience, and hiring preference once you're done. However, in the hood it's often demonized as some evil thing that is set up to get blacks killed. 99% of jobs in the military don't even see battle.

wtf was all that? :mjlol:

that whole shyt you typed was nonsense. just because black people can be more successful in america than anywhere else doesn't mean that we're treated equally and fairly in our country. we have to deal with prejudice and racial inequality across the board at every level.

You admit blacks can be more successful here than anywhere else, but that there is still people who don't like you. Well cry me a river. No one has to like you or is obligated to like you. What are you bringing to the table to be successful in spite of that? If it's not anything of value, nobody cares. That's life.

ok now i see you're just an idiot or troll or both. and you're most likely not black or i wouldn't have to state the obvious. i dgaf if we're liked. we can be just as qualified or more so and not get the same opportunities because of our skin color. we can be minding our own damn business and be pulled over or stop/frisked or arrested or even killed just because of our skin color. we should have equal opportunities in life in this country and we don't. we don't have to be liked for that to happen. simple as that. the standard isnt measured by what happens in other countries. my standard is set by what happens in the country i was born and raised in.

just so there's no confusion, you're a fukking idiot.

Says who? What black organizations are PUTTING UP MONEY to promote this thinking? You think whites, asians, latinos, etc are going to put aside their self interests in the interest of blacks getting "equal treatment"? especially if there aren't any black organizations of any significance putting up their own money to make these changes happen?

That's the reason why I'm against socialism. If things are messed up as you say now, how is it going to be any different under socialism when we aren't the administrators of the "solution"? What do you propose we do to change things? How would you implement it? I'm open ears to anyone that can actually put together a concrete plan of how things could be done "better".

Well those issues have been issues for over 3 years. Trump has had 2 years and scores of advisors to help him craft a plan. AOC has been in Congress a total of 2 months?

Comparing those 2 is really comparing apples to beef. I'll let you :cook: though.

Bro why do you keep bringing up trump?

1) I agree with you Trump has been ass cheeks

2) .Is that the bar you really want to compare AOC to??

If 2 years of nothing is the bar (unfortunately), then 2 months with a rough draft of a bullet point summary is already orders of magnitude ahead of the curve.

So, no I'm not going criticize her for not having a detailed plan right out of the gate. Personally, I'm giving her a whole 2 years to come up with one given the magnitude of the thing. I'm just happy she has the vision and pushing the conversation forward and in front. She seems serious. She's working on it. That's good enough for me.
