There is clear discrimination of Haitians in DR. Unfortunately my friend made it a point to ask every person who she thought was Haitian if they were. She was spot on every time. They were always honest but you got the clear feeling that it was not something they wanted to talk about especially around Dominicans.

But there are people saying that Haitians and Dominicans are exactly the same and descend from the same people and look exactly alike?

How can your friend be so spot on accurate if what many people in this thread are saying is true?

Who are you trying to fool breh?

No shyt there are mixed race people in Haiti, but they are a small minority. Its the opposite in DR. Mulattoes being the majority and blacks being the minority.
I don't think he was tryna fool anyone fam. What you said goes without saying... but how does that make them different if it's just the inverse? The black people are the same black people in each bloodline...only the whites differ and not always. So I should ask you the same question, who are you trying to fool? Of course you got more full-blooded blacks in Haiti their histories are different. The majority of the blood in dominicans veins is black and it doesn't matter what they look like on the outside. They don't want to identify as black that's on them. They only consider 11% of their population to be truly black... but that wouldn't fly over here. I'm sure you know that you can be mixed and dark as well.

you're right they're not the same. Dominic00ns are savages, criminals, scallywags, and degenerates :laff:

Except across the black blogosphere, people are beggin,:sadcam: pleading and crying for these people to acknowledge their blackness. You'd figure if they were that bad, people would just leave them alone instead of attempting to brow beat them into blackness. Validation and inferiority complexes are real.

To say that Dominicans are just "black" completely disregards the Taino, Carib and Arawak natives.
Except they died in less than 6 decades and they were also on the other side of the island, they died there too.

But they also have Spanish ancestry. Not just a little. We are talking 40 to 58% here.

Columbus did wipe many of them out.
But many "live on" in the mixing between the races that happened.

So you when try to pull someone's coat to something it's always about validation. The inferiority complex is coming from the other side. There's nothing with trying to eliminate ignorance. Or should we all just keep it moving? Self-identity is very important.
