:mindblown: I will never understand why many Dominicans act like they ain't black

Exactly. Many of them are Haitian descendants. I'm Haitian, but my grandmother was Dominican. Haitian and Dominican have been intermixing for many centuries and still some of them have this unwarranted animosity toward Haitian for no good reason

I agree, I don't think most of the people in this thread are painting the whole population as such. I know a lot of people are not down with that shyt...that's why they have to justify it with phrases "he was stealing". shyt, maybe he was stealing since they do that to anyone that steals. 50% of my friends are dominican, so it's a weird touchy subject a lot of the times... but groupthink is a motherfukka. Also a lot of people in the islands are not educated, they're still spitting the same bullshyt they learned in school back when Trujillo et al controlled the curriculum.
True but there is still a lot of racism rooted in the Dominican republic and for the most part it's accepted even by those who aren't necessarily racist.

Most Dominican parents' biggest fear is for their daughter/son to bring a Haitian man/woman home.
Close second would be any black man, period.

For example: I have my cousins young daughter who is dating a Dominican dude as we speak. Both are young (19). At first I was worried about it but then i realized they welcomed her with open arms.
WHY you ask? I think it's because she's a mulato herself (my moms family are mulato). She could pass for hispanic or dominican. So it's evident that black skin is a problem with them.

At the same time my home girl who i told ya'll about been cool with me since we were 18. We used to fukk but have been just friends the lat 10 years. There isn't a thing she wouldn't do for me. Her parents are cool with me but i dont think they know we used to fukk

Who are you trying to fool breh?

No shyt there are mixed race people in Haiti, but they are a small minority. Its the opposite in DR. Mulattoes being the majority and blacks being the minority.
