I still love the DR. I've been there more than once - and not saying that racism prejudice doesn't exist - but I never sensed any of kind of vibe personally, especially when I was last there a few months ago in Punta Cana where half the population are black. It's still a beautiful island and the majority of the natives I've met (black, mixed and otherwise) have been real cool.

To call someone a 'c00n' because they like to take holidays there is a reach. You might as well just vacation in only Africa because every (majority) non black country is gonna have a degree of anti-blackness, including the very same countries most of us here live in. Japan and Germany were DEVASTATED in WWII only 70 years ago but they've managed to rebuild themselves into 2 of the most successful countries in the world. nah the problem is that this goes back many decades so it affects not only the children of the immigrants but the grand and great grand children

so people who have live their whole life as Dominicans and whose parents were born and were their whole life Dominicans just had their citizenship stripped away

and since they were born in DR they are not Haitian so they are effectively nationless

Why were Germany and Japan able to parlay the aid they received into success while the Haitians have not? A developing country is a nation with a low living standard, underdeveloped industrial base, and low Human Development Index (HDI) relative to other countries

Over the last few decades, the term Third World has been used interchangeably with the Global South and Developing Countries to describe poorer countries that have struggled to attain steady economic development
