Serious question, what's DR's education system like? shyt, I doubt most of these Afro-Latino countries teach any relevant history to their particular diaspora?

I am from there, although i was raised here , i studied both here there (long story) but to answer your question most of the "history" there when your young starts off will small talks about the natives from the island, them switches to the Spanish/Columbus invasion , although Columbus is HIGHLY regarded there, there is even a temple of sorts built for him where his remains are , slavery/Africans really isn't talked about in any important sense , them there is acknowledgement of a stronger french/African presence in the Haitian part of the island , after that what there REALLY big on is the liberation of the island from Haitian "rule", Haitians held the full island for almost about 25 years ,and that is pretty much the only topic that is talked about and allowed to be discussed in depth around that time is where they start to instill the whole Dominican pride/Haitian animosity in kids. That is pretty much all you learn about from 1st-8th grade .

H.S/College there is again deeper discussion on what happened politically after the island was liberated from the Haitians and the time "Trujillio" ruled, who IMO is one of the most brutal dictators to rule the western hemisphere EVER but rarely talked bout , google him if u never heard of him, but yea thats what is talked about in later years

there isn't much discussion on race per se if thats what you want to know , contrary to what u read on the coli most Dominicans will quickly and proudly accept there AFRICAN roots, but they don't see themselves as the same "type" of Africans as Haitians or AA if that makes sense.

the bolded makes you seem needy of them and I find it pathetic.

why do some of you black americans like kissing up to lighter skinned races in this way? it's like the more someone hates you guys...you are drawn more and more to them...do you guys think the world doesn't see this?

Black Americans are not the only Black people in the world, if you haven't noticed. It's funny you assume that it has to do with lightskin but I've been in plenty of threads with the same ideology applied to our brothers across the pond and in the Carribean who come in shades dark as night. You also don't know me or what color I am so for you to assume that I'm dark (I'm light brown) speaks more towards your mindset than anything else.

Of course we get it.

The Spanish were only ordering the upgraded africans slaves from the menu. Only the ones with V6 engines and all bells and whistles. The 3 cylinder african slaves were left for the cheap american and french slave masters :comeon:

Nah Doggie. I lived in CostaRica for a while (about 8 months for work) and been to Panama. Black Costa Ricans aren't like that and neither are Panamanians. They take pride in their latino heritage but in no way shape or form did I detect any "superiority complex" from them. And I wasn't there playing tourist. My work was in San Jose but I've ventured out throughout Limon(where most of the blacks are from), Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Siquierres and many other small towns where blacks live.
You go to Haitian concerts here and sometimes see more Panamanians there than at Salsa or hip-hop artists concerts

I've been to panama tons have family there ,also been to DR,PR, Colombia and mexico and at least in my experiences you cant tell a a "black" person from there that they culturally are the same as a Haitian,Jamaican or even worse a African american . Like i said they wont deny the obvious African roots in there own culture but when u have deep discussions with them on this they seen themselves as different type of black person , the complex is there, its just more obvious in dominicans because they share a small island with a large strong African population

Dominicans have to be some of the most delusional group of Latinos out there :what:.

This Black Dominican dude used to always talk about nappy hair and dark skin yet he was black himself.

I think the problem is most dominicans don't travel around the US, they usually stick to the east coast.

If they was to travel down south they'd see how it really is.
