Blame yourself for sneak dissing, you catching strays for nothing

Now that Nas is in the era of the pirate with everyone else his selling power is in question. Jay (past era) and Kendrick (current) went plat in this era, did nas?

That's a clever deflection but storytelling has always been a part of rap and doing it over the course of an album instead of on a single song isn't cinematography.

GKMC told a story of that night over the course of the album. The songs were thematically relevant to where the story was and the skits helped progressed the story. The "heavy lifting" shyt is hater talk, if the story didn't advance through skits the alternative would be an entire album of storytelling tracks which would have dulled the albums diverse content.

Diverse content is another thing Kendrick has over Nas definitely

I really disagree with that.

But hey, maybe he has a couple songs talking about divorce or his daughters that I somehow missed.

But I give you credit for moving the narrative to something other than acclaim. Because maybe we can discuss how nas is more poetic, has better rhyme schemes, and paints a picture with words better than Kendrick :ld:

Kenny got 3 maybe even 4 arguable classics
Nas has 1 definite and 1 or two arguables

Similar skillset with storytelling and all
Nas got him bar for bar
Kendrick got him on delivery and definitely on beats

Okay:mjlol:

But on another note I was thinking to myself a few days ago how The Coli felt about Stillmatic being called a classic

Stillmatic Intro
Got Ur Self A Gun
Ether
You're Da Man
One Mic
Rewind
2nd Childhood
Destroy And Rebuild
What Goes Around

It had some powerful songs on there I can't lie, but I understand why people would say it isn't a classic. Still, I feel like 9 out of 14 songs would be a classic album for anyone else but Nas is a high caliber rapper so people may look at that as just a great album

:wtfnas: Hell no. Kendrick is that nikka but NaS is on a different level. :lmaonas: at nikkas asking if one off the biggest selling acts in hip hop history ever had commercial success:dead:

I genuinely hate threads like these because Nas and Kendrick are my favs.

Its disrespectful to put Kendrick up there with Nas this soon...Nas who has survived every era of rap and has dropped countless classic songs and is still sharp.

Kendrick is that nikka right now but we need to stop trying to force classics on him. Time will tell if his albums will stand the test of time or not.

Classic to me is genre changing. Kendrick doesn't have that and there aren't many in Hiphop period
