Now that Nas is in the era of the pirate with everyone else his selling power is in question. Jay (past era) and Kendrick (current) went plat in this era, did nas?
That's a clever deflection but storytelling has always been a part of rap and doing it over the course of an album instead of on a single song isn't cinematography.
GKMC told a story of that night over the course of the album. The songs were thematically relevant to where the story was and the skits helped progressed the story. The "heavy lifting" shyt is hater talk, if the story didn't advance through skits the alternative would be an entire album of storytelling tracks which would have dulled the albums diverse content.
Diverse content is another thing Kendrick has over Nas definitely
I really disagree with that.
But hey, maybe he has a couple songs talking about divorce or his daughters that I somehow missed.
But I give you credit for moving the narrative to something other than acclaim. Because maybe we can discuss how nas is more poetic, has better rhyme schemes, and paints a picture with words better than Kendrick
