And I know this would hurt to admit but, as much as I like Section.80.....It shouldn't be considered a classic....This new album shouldn't either (at least not yet). Ya'll make things hard for Kendrick when you constantly inflate him. GKMC can be considered a classic....And TPAB arguably is, and that's about it....

Section 80
DAMN

Aren't classics.....

THANK YOU. I have the same damn feelings. Posters in the Kendrick thread talking about how he got 5 classis and include Untitled Unmastered. Just going over the otp.

Section 80 has classics songs and is dope but is not a classic.

GKMC and TPAB are the classic moments. Kendrick would have 3-peated if he had more songs on the album like DNA

I'll keep it simple. Nas is vastly superior (not just superior, but vastly superior) to Kendrick in every single way. Let me repeat: every single way. Any metric you can judge a rapper by, even the most random one, Nas is superior to Kendrick tenfold.

If you can't see this obvious fact, you're not a hip hop fan. You should come back to us when you actually appreciate the genre, instead of dikkriding one or two artists because they're closer to your pop tastes. :salute:

This

As far as nas having 1 maybe 2 classics, just ridiculous.

Nas currently owns the greatest hip hop catalog in history.

The man got songs like "last words" and life we chose , which is probably 2 songs better than most artist careers........on his worst album!!!

Let's allow time to tell us what is really classic. Time has validated that nas has more than 1 arguable 2 classics.

Illmatic
it was written
Stillmatic
Lost tapes

are nas undeniable classics that 98% of the game would agree are classics.

I am
God's son
Untitled
Life is good

is considered classics to at least 50% of the game

And nas been here since 1994 and the only album considered wack in a more than 20 year career is nastradomus , the album that still has classic songs.

Put some respect on Nasir jones name.

Ether was like the control verse times a thousand.

I'm just saying

That Control verse has to be one of the most overated verses ever ...I was so hype to hear it and kept waiting for the reason for the buzz :aicmon:

I have no idea if Kendrick does ANYTHING better than Nas...Nas doesn't need all the extra stuff to sound good, a couple words like "Half Man, Half Amazing" might be better than anything I've heard from Kendrick lol...simple, straight to the point, and ill :ahh:

Diverse content is another thing Kendrick has over Nas definitely

Nah.

One of Nas most celebrated attributes is his willingness to explore a variety of concepts and topics. Heck sometimes he gets criticized for being too "out there" and experimenting too much...to the point that he gets accused of having contradictory feelings, thoughts, and topics in his music. Just examining his religious thoughts in his music alone will produce a ton of viewpoints.

Just off the top of my head, songs that are different from each other in significant ways.

Daughters
Rewind
Fetus
Testify
Dance
Project Roach
Bye Baby
These Are Our Heroes
Fried Chicken
Drunk By Myself
Purple
Dr. Knockboot
Doo Rags
If Heaven Was A Mile Away
Accident Murderers
Undying Love
Sekou Story
One Love
I Can
Sly Fox
Black Girl Lost
Remember The Times
Who Killed It
Last Words
I Gave You Power
War
What Goes Around
UBR
Book of Rhymes
No Ideas Original (super relevant to the topic)
Bridging The Gap
Surviving The Times
Last Real nikka Alive
Makings of a Perfect bytch

I really could keep going.

Note, I'm not saying he always executes all of his ideas to perfection. But that's not the point. His catalogue is full of diverse material, much more than what Kendrick has provided so far - which isn't a knock to Kendrick.

Nas has been around for damn near 25 years. And for 25 years he has been writing intimate feelings about his wife, children, career choices, mistakes, and accomplishments. Im not sure we've had a discography that is so transparent through so many years. The subject is himself but the specific topics and emotions touched upon have been extremely diverse.

Even I forget about nas' quotables since I usually think about his storytelling and rhyme schemes first.

I never sleep cuz sleep is the cousin of death

:whew:

I saw a dead bird flying through a broken sky
Wish I could flap wings and fly away
To where black kings in Ghana stay

People always go straight to illmatic as the nas classic/best album. I think nas fans and jus hip hop fans in general can have a debate that Stillmatic is better than Illmatic.
Id be the nikka in the crowd like " fukk yall... why yall aint listen to Streets Disciple" That thing sooo underrated
