Classic is not synonymous with great when it comes to albums. I think Kendrick has 1 classic, and 3 great albums. I may even say he has 2 classics. I personally think this new album is his second best album. But anyways, Nas has more classics so far but kendrick still has time to eclipse him.

The only way Kendrick can eclipse Nas in hip hop is how the moon eclipses the sun, it's closer to you.

kendrick career is what nas career should have been if he didnt try to sell out and go shiny suit mainstream and became a fake Colombian drug lord

its the truth, i know it hurts :picard:

Kendrick sold out too. That was stupid to say.

If I wanna hear witty lines I'd watch a comedy
If I wanted to hear melodies I'd listen to a singer
If I wanted to hear rhymes I'd listen to a poem
If I wanted to hear soul samples I'd listen to the music they're sampled from
If I wanted to hear drug dealer stories I'd talk to an actual drug dealer

YOUR POINT SUCKS

You're not a hip hop fan, and you completely missed my point. Deliberately or otherwise. Which is expected of a rosenberg.

If you really want clarity, reread my posts. It's all there. But if you wanna ramble and shoot from the hip, then I'll have to bid you adieu :salute:

I'd put Section.80 as a classic just because its a hell of a lot more "listenable" than a lot of other "classic" albums.
Good Kid.Maad City and To Pimp a Butterfly are classics as well.
DAMN! came out last week, I'm not going to declare it anything for a little while.

Again, Kendrick will have to rap for another decade or be killed before more of the dusty hip-hop fans who see themselves as the "gatekeepers of hip-hop" will allow him into a higher position in the GOAT category. It has nothing to do with him as an artist, they just like a thick layer of nostalgia before they give any artists their props.

I wouldn't say Kendrick has more classics than Nas.

That being said, a lot of the "hater" posters will talk about Kendrick's verses being "about nothing" and then praise Nas Album Done, or some other verse where he does his usual cyclical rapping about nothing :dead:

Time will reveal. He wont eclipse him in skills, and he could never outdo illmatic, but kendricks 4 album run has been legendary to say the least

I was mostly playing with the word eclipse. I'm a huge fan of both but I think for Kendrick to surpass Nas he'll have to be one of the people to usher in the next type of music, which he just might do.
