Does it make me a dikk for hoping that Captain Marvel bombs at the box office?

I'm going to see it just because it's the movie before Endgame. Shazam is the Captain Marvel movie I'm looking forward to. Also, I have not given zero fukks about Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel in the comics. Which is odd because I enjoyed her when she was just Ms. Marvel.

Marvel is two years too late. Wonder Woman already came through and crushed the buildings.

If they had done a female-led superhero movie before that, there'd be more fanfare. But it took them eleven fukking years? :comeon:

You're right but also will probably end up being wrong because this ties directly into Endgame so muthafukkas gonna go see it regardless

This story made my Friday for some reason. :obama:

#CaptainMarvelChallenge: Frederick Joseph is raising money to send girls to see film - CNN

Last year, his #BlackPantherChallenge raised enough money to send 73,000 children of color to see "Black Panther."

This year, his #CaptainMarvelChallenge hopes to do the same for girls with Marvel Studios' first female-led film, "Captain Marvel."
But Frederick Joseph said he isn't sure the campaign to help young girls will receive as much support as the one for black boys did.
"I was hoping this would receive more traction than the last challenge," the New York marketer told CNN.

Even an endorsement from the movie's star, Brie Larson, didn't seem to move the needle on the challenge's GoFundMe page.
"We did see some more donations from her support, but not as many as we would have hoped for," Joseph said. "I think there's a larger conversation to be had around how much support women receive and lack thereof."

us "minorities" are all in this together

"our fight is your fight, black people :damn:"

nah, in all seriousness in a roundabout way basically nikkas can't have shyt. regardless of how you feel about Black Panther being made by a white owned studio, and the character being invented by white men, the fact that the movie itself was unapologetically Black and made by a great Black director who's remained real to himself and never felt the need to code switch is Black Excellence. others see us do great things and succeed, and be perfectly justified in our excitement for the things we do and they feel entitled to the same kind of love. but it doesn't work like that. Black Excellence is Black Excellence because it doesn't exist by itself without the context of everything we've gone through, persevered, and overcame as a people

the white woman is the most protected population in western society and in the hierarchy we live in white women are only second to white men :shaq2:

aslo, see the second quote of my sig

How is black panther just for black boys when there were more women with signicficant good guy roles then men? Nakia, Okoye, Shuri, Ramonda vs T'challa and maybe Zuri who was killed and M'baku who started off as a bad guy in the first place :beli: :wtf: I know why :mjpls::pacspit: Even had women standing up to the king...the elder when T'challa wanted to go after Klau and Okoye when Kilmonger became king :snoop:....that move was much more empowering for women then WW.....which had Gal Gadot walking around like a naïve child and half naked when they were fighting....:pacspit:Unfortunately we didn't get to see the goods of the women of Black Panther :to: I swear I hate CACS more and more everyday...

Some of yall are so fukking wierd when it comes to Captian Marvel it confuses the hell out of me.

Yall do realize shes literally the female version of the late-90s male power fantasy characters right? Like rob liefield shyt. Ppl making youtube videos crying about "shes such a mary-sue!!!! Every male likes her, every woman looks up to her, its not realistic!!:damn:"

I wonder if they even read comics? Almost every super hero has had a phase where they were written like this. Brehs only mad cuz its a woman this time. As if gender-relative strength matters when you are talking about fictional super powers.:mjlol:

If Captain Marvel gets you aggy, you got issues

my gripe is that after nearly 20 years of world building they have her swoop in literally at the last minute crushing buildings

if I didn't know any better I'd guess Kathleen Kennedy had something to do with the decision for the culmination of all the MCU movies to lead up to this. i'm not a comic buff but it doesn't make sense. it would have been more organic if the already established characters found a way to win in the end. it's like watching the NBA Finals and in game 7 the point guard you didn't even know was on the team comes in and wills his team to victory, and then wins finals MVP

was Captain Marvel saving the day in the comics or was this narrative something created just for the MCU?

Actually I've seen people hating across the board, so you wouldn't be alone. Most people are seeing it because of it tying into Endgame, which is probably why I'll also end up seeing it. It doesn't look all that interesting to be honest, but I wouldn't pray for it to fail though.

The bolded is how I felt about Dr. Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy from the trailers, and those both turned out to be excellent. I think it's fair to say Disney knows what they're doing with these films by this point. I doubt any movie co-starring Samuel L Jackson is going to be bad.

I would be shocked if this is how Endgame ended. There's no way they're gonna sideline the OG Avengers team and let a character with one film under her belt get all the shine.
