Does Beyoncés overall greatness make people forget about her great singing capability??

Alicia keys has access to the same writers and producers that Beyoncé has :francis:

Alicia keys cant sing anywhere near as good as Beyoncé, in fact keys has to stay in her minimal range or else she starts to sound horrible :francis:

The difference is Alicia was bigger than Beyoncé without using the same writers and producers. Alicia came in the game with her own sound and style. Her abandoning that and going for a more Pop sound, ruined her.

Agree 100 with this. Aaliyah was good, but she died young and didn't reach her peak so we will never know where she would have taken it, but in her time she didn't show us much regarding great stage presence, GREAT vocals etc. She had a great production/writing team in Timbo and Missy but Beyonce is a great artist, she really is. Vocally and live shows.

Aaliyah IMO wasn't anywhere near Beyonce vocally unless someone can show me otherwise?

I put it like this....If you had to erase one of their catalogs from existence(Bey & Liyah), who you choosing?

Personally, I'm erasing Beyonces.Technically, she's a better singer/performer than Aaliyah, but somehow, Aaliyah made better music IMO

In my neck of the woods, them joints^^^ outlast any Beyonce track.

It's the "Keith Sweat" effect. Not the best singer/performer, but the music sticks to ya.

Shut up wacky D

is @Harry B your boyfriend or something?:scust:

And yet again, you don't have a response, yet I'm the one that's doing the ducking. Silk has nothing to do with this thread neither do the other two threads. The other two threads you're referring to, you did the same thing, you're doing here: "I stopped reading", "you're typing essays". You lack the logic to shut down anything. If you were going to shut down anything, you'd put up or shut up.

exactly. you've ducked me in the past 3 or 4 threads. but yet, you think I'm gonna respect you enough to read a long-winded post by you in here.

what part of that do you not understand?

and I bet I already shot down everything you said in that post like 10 times already. you regurgitate the same bullchit arguments whenever Aaliyah comes up. if I'm going to go in circles, I'm gonna do it with someone new.

the thing with Aaliyah is they could've easily just gave those songs to better singers.

the difference with keith sweat is that he writes & produces for himself and other artists. and he can put on a show.

Still coppin' pleas. Nobody's ducked you. What's funny is you're doing the ducking and trying to cloak it, by saying posters are ducking you. You know giving respect requires you having some to give.

You haven't shot down anything. Breh, you've been recycling the same Aaliyah posts for years. By now everybody knows you have a weird obsession with Aaliyah. We know it's close to August 25. You might as well get that annual hate in early. Quite sure Aaliyah provided the soundtrack to some of the worst moments in your life the way you flock to any related Aaliyah thread with the same unwavering dedication to discredit her.

Alicia was never bigger than Beyoncé,

Beyoncé was 8x platinum in 98, let's not forget about their next album survivor

Alicia keys is a joke right now, and Beyoncé? Well.....

She was "swagged out" before swag was ever a thing.Chicks dug her style something terrible.

That style & simplicity made her relatable. She seemed like a chick off the block that made it.

Beyonce was born with the pedigree to be a pop star.It was her parents life mission. She's like the Ivan Drago of this shyt.

But that makes her come off a bit "plastic" to me.She's like a singing robot.

Aaliyah was just more organic(her sound/vibe at least) to me.

Just speaking for myself.

Beyoncé was not 8X Platinum in '98, neither was Destiny's Child. It wasn't until the second album that DC reached that height. Stop with the lies. You're honestly sitting here comparing a group to a solo artist. Ya'll desperate now.

Alicia Keys was a solo artist in 2001. She went 6X Platinum domestically as SOLO artist. She won 5 Grammys in one night SOLO. She had a #1 hit SOLO. She came back in 2003, went 4X platinum with several hit songs. Went 3X Platinum in 2007 and scored another #1. I could go on.

oh great.

I see this fountain of misinformation is taking his act on the road and posting in r&b threads now.

worst post in this thread by far man. go somewhere.
Wacky D, you are by far the most wack poster in the history of Coli/Sohh, shut the fukk up.
I can see that your RnB skills are that of a 47 year old mother who only listens to what boring ass contemporary radio heads tells you to listen to once a week, old Frank Ski ass taste in music. You don't like anything that takes average iq or above to grasp, which is clearly showcased in your rap threads :mjlol:.

"Silkk Tha Shocker >> Nas, anyone who disagrees has never been in the streets", is usually how it sounds you fukking clown.

I'm not duckin chit.

you still havnt showed face in that silk thread. I tagged you before this. and you still havnt responded in those 2 or 3 other threads. and I tagged you in those as well. you responded to one and then prompty ducked back out.

and stop trying to make me seem like I have a weird obsession with Aaliyah. youre not smart enough to swing perception on the slick.

I just don't like revisionist history and I don't like lines being blurred(and both of those apply to Aaliyah. and its pretty obvious if you look at the names that I'm synonymous with supposedly hating on here. its not about me hating these artists. if anything, the people I hate are the dikkhead posters like yourself that like to pedal that chit.

and whats funny is you already f*cked up earlier in this thread and made a post that un-intentionally agreed with darn near everything I be saying.

I'm not wasting my time getting into a back-n-forth with somebody who just said that the dream revolutionized r&b.

youre a known culture-vulture that never knows what youre talking about ever. and now youre trying to bring your miseducated essays into r&b threads.

GET THE F*CK OUTTA HERE.:camby:

her whole style & swag was bitten. and the guy who gave her that swag, was a notorious biter himself.

chicks dug ALOT of singers. not just Aaliyah. nor was she amongst the most popular.

theres nothing "off the block" about Aaliyah breh. I think "the girl next door that I might have a chance with" is the term that youre looking for.

you do know that Aaliyah only got in the game because her uncle is barry Hankerson right? you really don't want to get into the backgrounds breh. theres nothing organic about Aaliyah's come-up.

My bad 99, excuse me for being one year of. :russ:. And don't act like Beyoncé wasn't the group. And I'm not going to even run through all of beyonces accolades like you did with Alicia because unlike Alicia, Beyoncé book is still being written, especially with the 11 Grammys she was just nominated for :lolbron:

One thing is sure though, Alicia Keys is not having has never had any WW stadium tours and she's never had reviews like Beyonces two latest albums.
She's like the inversion of Beyonce, Started of with a dope album and got weaker and more basic by every album until she flat out tried to sound like Cheer. While Beyonce started of with a bang, then dropped a dud and since then it's been getting better and better until she started smashing out classic reviews.

And really that Beyonce has 20 grammy, and the most nominated woman of all times really does't say too much. The Grammy's are often very skewed towards how popping you are. Reviews on the other hand is very relevant, specially if it's for artists who haven't really got serious haters like say a Mumford and Sons or some shyt like that. That shows how the people who really know music, motivates how dope your album with sold reports and then averages are taken. Of course if it's some type of niche music like Noise Rock or something far ahead of it's time like TM101, perhaps only a few people can get it but we are talking about RnB here.

I respect Beyonce, even like her. The problem for me is that the songs don't match the voice. Her songs are more for the 21 and under teenage crowd. Don't get me wrong- she is the total package. Dancing, Singing, Entertaining. i just wish more females would be able to get some shine. It's just she has this chokehold on the industry and artists like Truth Hurts, Corinne Bailey Rae, Amerie, Melanie Fiona can't get any shine.

Beyonce wasn't the group. No Beyonce has done what Writing's On The Wall did. You can't really compare a solo career to a group especially when the said group didn't appeal to the same audiences that a Beyonce album does. Beyonce being the face of the group is irrelevant because the music she did as a solo artist wasn't the same as what she was doing with the group.

Of course Beyoncé is bigger than Alicia Keys now, which has been the case since maybe '09. You said that Alicia has never been bigger than Beyoncé which is a lie.

Beyonce is ridiculously talented. Voice wise I don't have her on the elite level with Whitney, Gladys, Aretha, and Patti, but shes on that second tier. And none of them are seeing her in dancing. I think she gets some flack due to her looks...typical lite skinned, blond hair etc. But the chick has earned her spot and nobody is outworking her. Her songs are criticiized as "simple or juvenile", but thats whats on the radio. Unless you're buying her albums you are not gonna hear the more sophisticated stuff.
