Aaliyah needed producers and songwrirers JUST LIKE BEYONCE. Where would Beyonce be without scott storch? Darkchild? Rich harrison? Neyo? In fact, Aaliyah only needed one songwriter, while Beyonce's songs require 10+.

She's more a studio puppet than anyone else. Let's use common sense brehs.

Studio puppet and Beyoncé don't even belong in the same sentence considering she's the ultimate performer and makes all her noise outside the studio

If having a writer makes you a puppet than Janet and Whitney are also puppets :francis:

Fact is Aaliyah is nothing more than a Ciara type artist (Ciara is actually a Better dancer) Except she died and received extra promotion.

Studio puppets don't last 20 years breh

Studio puppets can't do this 20 years into their career breh

and when did janet say this? after Aaliyah died?

I'm not rewriting chit with my own opinions, especially seeing that youre basically agreeing with me in the bolded.

and again I ask, how was Aaliyah a more well-rounded artist? she couldn't sing, didn't write, didn't produce and had a bad stage show. so like I asked the other guy that ducked out of here, what was Aaliyah so talented at? and what made her such a well-rounded artist?

take away Aaliyah's studio handlers and shes just another jawn singing poorly in the shower.
Let that songwriting and producer shyt go breh. Beyonce uses songwriting camps, bangladesh said himself that Bey changes two words in the demo tracks and that's how she gets her songwriting credit. She can't play any instruments either so she ain't no producer either.

Janet said this while she was alive, they were actually planning a duet in 2001 but schedules clashed. Aaliyah was always known to be a good dancer when she was alive.

Aaliyah was a better singer, better swag, better dancer, actress & performer. Beyonce's live shows back then were her sounding like a screaming cat in heat and her stiff two steps were wack as hell.

Exactly breh. Aaliyah used songwriters and producers just like ANYONE ELSE.

Beyonce is nothing more than a rip off jlo and amerie. She jacked both they swag and ran with it.

Ciara's dancing is more up to date and recent.. Of course they look better than Aaliyah's outdated 90's moves.. Janet favored Aaliyah though.. Not Ciara doing the same ass backbends every video.

That whole sound/ group was orchestrated by timbo and missy, that was all them

You see what happened to genuwine after timbo left him and took his talents to Justin timberlake
:francis:

:whoa:

Ginuwine was still the chit after timbaland. and his stuff was better than what timbo was doing with timberlake.

Ginuwine is a TRUE talent. one of the best of his time. his problems were OFF-WAX.

all his big slow jams had nothing to do with timbaland.

beyonce can sing tho. she doesn't have to do anything else. plus shes the #1 entertainer of this era. I don't even like the broad. that's how bad yall are posting in here. yall got me in here defending her.

I brought up writing & production for Aaliyah because she cant sing. usually when someone cant sing, theyre doing something else that shows why they got on - like writing or producing, or being a shut-down performing. Aaliyah did nothing to compensate.

lol. I don't believe that janet chit at all. I mean, she was kinda washed in 2001 and prolly desperate and all but I don't see the point. and those duet albums are just talk. janet cant sing for chit either tho. so I guess it would make sense in that aspect but still.

those 2 stiff steps were sexy as hell. I don't think you peeped the science behind that.

so janet favored Aaliyah over Ciara now? nevermind the fact that Ciara didn't come out until 3 years after Aaliyah died.

Ciara is a WAY better performer than Aaliyah. cant sing for chit but she can :stylin: with the greatest of the greats.

Exactly.

You can't really say one is manufactured without saying the same about the other (regardless of how you feel about their voices, music, or performance). As much as Aaliyah's entry into music came because of her uncles, Beyoncé came in with her mother and father. Everything from her image (when her dad managed her, Beyoncé even stated that she didn't use profanity, but once a year) down to her outfits (a lot of them were designed by her mother). Beyoncé had a team of writers and producers. Beyoncé has had writing and production from everybody from Scott Storch (much of which was knock-off Timbaland beats), Dream & Tricky, Babyface, Timbaland, Missy, The Neptunes, Darkchild, Ryan Tedder, Ne-Yo, StarGate, and the list goes on. Even when they debuted Beyoncé as a solo artist outside of Destiny's Child, it was on a Missy Elliott song produced by Timbaland. Both have been integral parts of Beyoncé's career (no real hits outside of Tim's contribution to "Drunk In Love" and co-producing "Partition"). Beyoncé is choreographed as well. She doesn't come up with those dances. And if we want to go into how Beyoncé came up, they had her piggybacking off Jay Z and Sean Paul, the same way they tried to cash in Kelly Rowland and Nelly's "Dilemma". The difference is they took their time with Beyoncé and didn't just rush an album out there after "'03 Bonnie & Clyde" took off (Beyoncé's break out and officially coming into her own as a solo artist). Capitalizing off already growing rumors of Jay/Beyoncé dating, "Crazy In Love" dropped featuring Jay Z.

Timbaland and Missy were the sound. The difference is Aaliyah had a career before working with Timbaland and Missy. She had hits that weren't produced by Tim or R. Kelly.

That's what messed Ginuwine up. None of his other albums were as cohesive, well produced, written, or as focused as his first two. The Bachelor and 100% had a theme and have storyline woven into them. That coupled with the fact Timbaland gave him an identity sonically, unraveled once they stopped working together. The other albums had hits, but none of it touched what he created with Tim. "Pony" is still his signature song even though it's not even his biggest hit.

Aaliyah could sing. She was always known as a good singer. Let me Know is a classic and that song had straight vocals on it. Ain't no Beyonce slow song as classic as that.

Show me a video of Whitney Speaking On Beyonce voice like this or Janet speaking on Beyonce dancing like this like they do Aaliyah.

Beyonce ain't write shyt breh. If it's 20 other songwriters on a song, the fukk she write?

Janet wasn't washed by 2001, she got washed in 2004.

It makes no sense to compare a 90's dancer to a 2000's dancer. Soon as Aaliyah died dancing evolved into that turned up crunk shyt thanks to Lil Jon and em. Aaliyah was one of the best dancers in HER time breh, Are You That Somebody stayed in rotation on tv that year & she was dancin all in it.

Compare Ciara to someone in her time, And she dance way better than Bey.

Beyonce is manufactured as fukk. She write and produce her own shyt but admit she don't come up with her own ideas? Some of these nikkas slow breh.

Beyonce uses songwriting camps 30 people to come up with ideas for ONE SONG breh. She the female Drake.

Bangladesh:

Bangladesh on the Beyonce Songwriting Rumors
I’ll put it like this: it doesn’t matter who is writing or producing the songs. Who is delivering them, is what matters. It doesn’t matter if Beyonce is there physically writing the song. I mean even if she’s not, it doesn’t mean that she can’t. It might be a case of her not having time or whatever.

People from the outside looking in want to know whether or not she writes her own songs, she’s on a level where things are handed to her…people want to be a part of what she’s doing. She ain't write it but she can put her name on it….because that’s the boss she is.

And I agree. I just don't like the double standard. People in here acting like it only applies to Aaliyah.

Then people had the nerve to compare Aaliyah to Ciara. Ciara's star was already dwindling by the second album. The debut had a #1 single, and two others that peaked at #2. The debut sold 2.7 million records. Her second album sold half and only produced one Top 10 hit ("Get Up"). Only thing I'd give Ciara over Aaliyah is dancing and Ciara >>>>> Beyoncé as a dancer as well.

The most appalling thing in this thread is people including what Beyoncé did with Destiny's Child to compare her to other artists. "But Beyoncé sold 8 million records with Writing's On The Wall". Letoya Luckett, Lativia Roberson, and Kelly Rowland did too as all of them were in the group as well. "But, Beyoncé was the star". Explain how their next album didn't match the success of the previous one. Beyoncé was still the star of the group, but two elements that helped the group succeed were gone. It didn't help matters that Destiny's Child fans blamed Beyoncé for their departure and even booed at concerts.

the mental gymnastics being done here. lol.

theres a clear difference between coming in WITH your parents, who we basically know BECAUSE of beyonce, as opposed to Aaliyah getting a deal BECAUSE shes barry Hankerson's niece and being able to randomly sing backup for Gladys knight as a snot-nose kid, because Gladys was married to him. and having all these connects because of them. and getting put together with r.kelly, because he was managed by Hankerson. and the list goes on.

nobody does it by themselves. but clearly beyonce brings way more to the table than Aaliyah. and yall know this.

and I was one of the 1st people on here, calling beyonce out for being fraud with the writing credits, btw. so yall aren't telling me anything I don't already know. and she still wrote way more than Aaliyah at the end of the day, so I don't see why yall are even trying to push this argument. Aaliyah wrote like nothing.

lol @ this misleading video.

you act like she gave Aaliyah credit as some sort of knockout vocalist. she basically just gave her props on her style and that she sounds nice doing it. I basically said the same chit. whats your point?

and on top of that, the clip is really about missy. she mentioned Aaliyah for a second in-between the missy props as an example of missy's brilliance. and she threw a compliment Aaliyah's way in the meantime.

I don't know if youre serious with this or if youre just trying to get one over on me. but you cant out-hustle a hustler.

janet was corny as hell in the 2000s. "its all for you" and the video with the young bul doing laundry and all that stuff. CORNY. she still caked off of it cuz she was JANET. names like that aren't gonna fall off instantly. people stick it out and stay loyal to names like that thru a bad album or two. so when you say a household name like janet fell off in 2004, it really means she fell off a couple albums beforehand.

there were indeed hype ass dancers in the '90s. that stuff didn't start with Ciara. lol. aaliyah was far from an amazing physical specimen on the dance floor. she wouldn't have even been able to keep up with janet old ass.

There's not a difference. Both Beyoncé and Aaliyah's relatives played a role in putting them where they were. Point blank. Both had parents managing them. Both were on talent searches. You really think a teenage Beyoncé had industry connects to get Destiny's Child signed to a recording contract with Sony/Columbia?

Perhaps most crucial of all, Mathew developed a strategy. “When you sell a product,” he told me, “you first have to design and build it, but also you have to figure out the needs of the customer. When we put the group together, we had a plan. We figured out our demographic, our customers, our imaging, what type of songs we’re going to sing. It’s not by accident that we write songs like ‘Independent Women’ and ‘Survivor’—female-based empowerment songs. That’s our customer base.” It was no longer just about singing and dancing, or even entertaining. The girls had to believe in themselves and their product at all costs. They had to sell themselves.

^^^ Words from her own father. Tell me that's not manufactured while you're making it seem like Beyoncé was a child prodigy. You're biased and the hate you harbor for Aaliyah is more evident every time you post.

And again, songwriting isn't a requirement for being a singer. It's not about who wrote what, it's about what the singer is able to do with it. So what you think Aaliyah is a mediocre singer.

:camby: with the video being misleading. Video title reads "Whitney Houston compliments Aaliyah". Whitney Houston literally says "I happen to be an Aaliyah fan" and "I love her voice" @ 0:06 and 0:08. These are words of a singer renowned for her vocals and know infinitely more about vocals than you or I for that matter could even muster.

So we're in here dissing Janet now just to continue your long running vendetta against Aaliyah? Yeah, 8/25 is days away and I still see your soul is still sizzling from whatever trauma happened to you to make you hate an artist with such vigor. The animosity and hate coming off them keys is just :mindblown:. You literally enter Aaliyah threads with the :demonic: face.

well I wouldn't refer to shower-singing as str8 vocals.

that song was a str8 rip of a song that was already a CLASSIC CLASSIC. all she had to do was just hum over the record. and the other version was all about r.kelly's production.

she was basically given a Porsche & told not to crash.

okay youre playing stupid.

and as for matthew's quotes, THATS BUSINESS. everybody has a lane and milks it. you act like you cracked the code or something.

and ive criticized beyone plenty of times for being generic & formulaic. probably in this very thread. the fact that I'm in here defending her, is moreso a testament to how ridiculous yall are with this Aaliyah tuff.

lol @ the video title. you cant be this dumb.

you act like whitney Houston titled the video herself. it was titled by the person who uploaded the video. probably an Aaliyah stan. shoot, it was probably YOU.

she said she had a nice voice and complimented her style. she didn't say she was a knock-em-dead vocalist or anything of that nature like yall are trying to make it see,.

and this was mostly about missy. that's how it got to Aaliyah and her style. she briefly went to Aaliyah in the midst of it, and went back to talking about missy.

I didn't say anything about janet that I havnt already said on here before. take it how you want it.

I only enter Aaliyah threads if the OP is trying to push propaganda. and this isn't even an Aaliyah thread!! yall push this propaganda everywhere.

I don't even know what 8/25 is. you sound like a stan.

Breh you called the title of the video "misleading" as if Whitney Houston wasn't complimenting Aaliyah in the video. There's content in the video that mirrors what the title is. Does she not compliment Aaliyah?

It doesn't matter whether she said Aaliyah some top tier vocalist. She said she was a fan and "I love her voice". Her choice of words, not mine. , which is still a huge compliment coming from a vocalist. I didn't upload the video.

What she said about Missy is irrelevant.

The only one pushing propaganda is you. Thread isn't even about Aaliyah and you're in here doing your usual. If I'm a stan, I'll proudly wear that as long as you're willing to admit that you're a hater.

Nobody's playing stupid. Lanes, whatever. It is definitely business and both the Hankersons and the Knowles did that to put Beyoncé and Aaliyah where they were.

so if youre not playing stupid, then that means that you ARE stupid. which one is it?
and youre combining 2 different arguments into one sentence. so I guess youre just not comprehending ,e.

I initially called the video misleading in reference to the coli poster who posted it here and what he was saying in his post. then you jumped in and took it somewhere is.

the guy was using the video to argue in favor of her vocals.

how is what she said about missy irrelevant when the clip was clearly based on missy. Aaliyah was an "oh-by the way" sidenote in the grand scheme of thing.
you dudes man. I cant tell if yall lack critical thinking & comprehension skills, or if yall are just full of chit, trying to twist things in your favor.

someone tried to insert Aaliyah into the conversation, and I shut them down. then you and a couple others came in here at full force. that's how we got to this point. don't try to put it all on me.

I'm not playing stupid, I'm calling it exactly as I see it. You can't say one of them was manufactured and not say the same of the other.

Now you're back peddling. You clearly said the video was misleading. I didn't take it anywhere else. You're the one who singled out the video and called it "misleading", not the post regarding the video.

Um, the video is in favor of her vocals or can you not hear.

The bit about Missy is irrelevant because if you're in here arguing about Aaliyah's vocals, not Missy's brilliance as a songwriter. She could've skipped right over Aaliyah and not even have mentioned her at all. The fact is that she mentioned Aaliyah, said she loved her vocals, and that she was a fan. Enough said.

Breh, you didn't shut down anything. You do what you always do. Downplay and insult an artist or group that's the topic of discussion until someone hits you with facts. Then you revert to the old "you weren't there", "there you go with the charts", "I'm not reading" stock responses.
